Question about updates

Hi, sorry if this is the wrong place in these forums for a thread on this, but I’m new to this site and I need some serious help.

I heard about all the matchmaking bugs with Halo: MCC around the time it came out, so I figured I would wait a week or so before putting money down on it. I finally bought the game over a week ago, thinking that was more than enough time for the launch issues to clear up. I’ve only been in about 3 matches since then. I’ll go to Multiplayer > Find Game, and then wait for half an hour to an hour while nothing happens except for cycling messages of “Joining Session,” “Searching for (More) Players,” and “Players Found.”

I’m really hoping that there’s just a problem on my end; is there a place I’m supposed to go to get the updates 343 puts out? Or are the updates just not working? It was my understanding that when I opened the game on the screen and thus joined the server the updates would automatically install and then I would see results. I really want to play online, and I am connected to Xbox Live because I can go over to Titanfall and find matches within seconds.

Can someone please enlighten me on where/how updates are received? Because since I bought this game I’ve seen no improvements save the occasional time I’ll be able to find a random match.

if u got the game digital the updates are already in the download

No, I got it on the disc.

If you’re able to search for games (even if never find any) then you’re updated.

Unfortunately this is the state the game is now. Search times have improved a little and some bugs have been fixed but overall search times are still much higher than desirable and success rate is still not optimal.

My tip is to not search for more than 5 minutes. If it still hasn’t found a game go back and try again as it will reset search parameters.

OK, thanks for the help! I’ll try that.
