Myself and friends have been wondering. Does anyone know why Title Update is implemented across so many playlists? We know 343 did the test by offering Regular Slayer and TU slayer and getting feedback off that. After realizing regular is preferred (big surprise) they added super slayer for those who like TU and kept Team Slayer regular. But why are so many playlists forced into TU, its over half. The majority voted against it, I just do not understand this logic.
I checked team slayer tonight, was at 8100 (rough on 3/4 decimal place) players, Super Slayer was 700. Doesn’t make sense, it’s the same exact thing except one it TU’d. It’s obvious TU is lacking support no?
Some mysteries will never be solved, I have been perplexed by this as well. Unfortunately there will most likely be an official answer beyond what has been given already, which was given after the TS two week trial vote.
It is apparent that many people like to play the original game and many people like to play the Title Updated version.
Thats about the extent of an answer that we got.
Hey Hey Plunderfull. It’s a pity there’s almost no explanation. The numbers just don’t add up lol. Either that or make like a regular lobby and TU lobby, same playlists but just different systems. Very unlikely though lol
The test was fubared, though i dont think they could have done much to fix it without really digging into the game.
It’s in so many playlists because vanilla Reach is awful.
Clearly not if you look at the raw results (as 343 did) and just take a look in the two comparable playlists. Regular slayer is over 5x as populated at any given time. Obviously, if you look at the numbers, it is not as popular. Simple math.
To be honest with you there could be an unknown number of people who are just unable to adjust to TU and the competition on TU that they just stay on regular reach. On reach in order to have fun you have to be on you A game and you are’t going to be on your A game if you’re in a playlist you aren’t adjusted too. Personally i would have perfered to keep reach the way it was. But now that i’m adjusted to TU i wish they had placed TU on the whole game and everyone would have been on the same page. Our community is fragmented for no real reason and us on the TU playlist are on the right. Why? Because changes were made for a reason. As far as bloom goes i can care less about that i’m an adaptive gamer but Armor lock and a number of other changes were needed big time and i’m glad they’re in the game is a little faster and more intense and more balanced. There is no reason to cater to people who like old reach, because change always happens and when it happens it should be total and without question. Anniversary playlist is a no brainer it’s for Halo 1 type gameplay that it fails to recreate. Everything else should have been made TU, i haven’t even played maps i paid for because they’re on Sqaud DLC which is a non TU playlist and i’m not going to give myself a headache to play something i’m not adjusted too. I shouldn’t have to force myself to play anything and i shouldn’t be kept away from maps because of the difference in gameplay that has been created. So either make the whole game non TU or make the whole game TU. Either way there will be an adjustment period that everyone would get over and continue playing. What’s sad is that any change is unrealistic as our Reach coummunity is so tiny that i doubt anyone wants to risk sending people running from reach because they tried to force change.
Hey, if you don’t like the TU, feel lucky. Halo 2 and Halo 3 got Title Updates, and those were game-wide. Granted, neither changed vast tracts of game play the way the Reach game play was changed.
I personally think its because its what the Forum Junkies asked for
people agreed on seperate playlists, it happens and these same people raged about it.
though, most people don’t actually see any difference between TU and vanilla, i’ve asked people why they don’t play it and they tend to respond with “because its the same as team slayer but team slayer has higher population”, they don’t seem to notice the difference in bloom or to AL and AC, if the changes really are this subtle then i think its pretty safe to just TU team slayer.

I agree here
This is a sensitive issue (the TU has been since its implementation), but yes, the changes are quite subtle. The AL and bloom, I can agree with, though AC was not properly dealt with (Nerfing the duration does not eliminate Camo sniping, just makes it less frequent. Why can’t we have 5 second perfect camo with no radar jammer and a 30 second recharge?) In all honesty, the TU seems to be heading in the right direction but should be removed from the original playlists. After all, the Anniversary has its own playlist and it needs some tweaks BIG TIME.
I vote for either nerfed Jetpacks or more killzones in Forge Maps, since they are all broken by this AA. Nothing’s more annoying than someone camping at the top of a Forge Tower only reachable via Jetpack.

There is a great possibility that many players simply don’t care either way. Meaning if team slayer was changed to the title update settings everyone would continue to play it because it is called team slayer. 343 gave us the impression that the numbers were very similar so in the end they decided to split the playlists.
Me personally I have no idea how anyone could like default reach, but that is just me.

I dont belive that is true by a long shot. To quote Albert Einstein "Insofar as mathematics is exact, it does not apply to reality; and insofar as mathematics applies to reality, it is not exact. And considering how many people jump from playlists to playlist, the majority dont have a clue whats the difference is. I like Super Slayer, but i only play it when im with my best players on friends list. The smaller population tend to be harder core player and i wont go in solo to these smaller playlists. Why because of numerous reasons. The least of which is getting matched against full parties with all mics, while your team has 2 in a party but not in the same party. Another with no mic, and you the only person having a mic trying ot cordinate… Even my griffball friends are leaving their preferred playlist because of smaller population thats causing lag and playing more popular playlists. I starting to believe, one of the biggest issue now is too many playlists. While i hate to lose some of the variety, it may be time to trim the fat.

Us over at the GB Hub were just talking about this. We are unsure whether or not we should remove the playlist (Probably not gonna happen, dont freak and spam admin) and just have the League Grifball and Customs. The population is dwindling (Even I have started playing MLG again) and there are some issues with lesser skilled randoms being stat padded against. But the Community seems to love the playlist and so do we. So it will more than likely stay
