Question about the detonator...

Picture this: you’re camouflaged, seeking anyone naive enough to try and capture your team’s flag. After only seconds of waiting, an enemy warthog rolls by, unaware of your position. You fire your sticky detonator at it, switch to your BR, and focus on other players. Soon enough, your team’s flag is being carried away by the very same warthog you sabotaged earlier. You switch to your detonator, pull the trigger, and save the flag, as the enemy warthog explodes in a micro-mushroom cloud.

I’m wondering if you can switch weapons while still not setting off the grenade fired from the sticky detonator, so you can set it off later. Does anyone know whether this is possible, or will it operate more like Reach’s grenade launcher?

I doubt it.It would be pretty cool but I dont see a self-explosive sticky detonator.

I’m soooo glad to say that you are correct. You can indeed switch weapons before detonating the projectile. It doesn’t really work like the grenade launcher because you actually pull the trigger again to detonate it instead of just holding the trigger and releasing.

What I really want to know now is if you can stick a person with it and choose not to detonate it for a while as I speculated months ago.

Wouldn’t it be so fun to “stick” someone with the SD and just watch them run around a little while knowing you can blow them up whenever you choose?

I too have been thinking of interesting tactical moves with the sticky detonator. I hope you can pull things off like that. Even stick your teammates warthog (with their knowledge) and use that as a distraction and let the enemy hijack you and detonate. Or tagging it to a banshee and truing it into a kamikaze. So many possibilities.

That would be the most malicious weapon to show up in Halo. It’s like the Halo 3 beta Tripmine, only much more evil!

That would be great, like sticking your own ghost or banshee before you start driving around, in case you get hijacked.

I think you actually can see a player do just that in one of the clips, he sticks the enemy, then the enemy runs a short bit before he’s blow to pieces. Could be some time-triggered thing but it sure would make more sense to let you stick people then blow them up when you wish to

When you shoot the grenade it starts to beep after a while. The beeping intensifies as it approaches its automatic detonation. Or you can detonate it yourself.

That’s what it looked like happens in the gameplay.

I don’t think it lasts THAT long, but it’s probably possible. Not to mention they could probably hear the beep that I think comes when you’re near a sticky detonator shot.

anyone know what happens if you die before detonating it? Does it explode or just fall off whatever it’s stuck on and become a dud?
