Anyone have an idea as too how many are still alive? I know many are working on farms and other slave-like jobs on Shanghelios and other Covenant controlled planets, but most of them rebelled in the end of Glasslands which was a fail attempt when Infinty showed up in Thursday War. If I’m not mistaken the Elites responded by killing the rest of them. Also if anyone wants to know why they are not in Halo 4 it’s because neither the Storm nor the Covenant following Arbiter trust them thus the Storm Covies had the original Halo CE lineup.
They weren’t the only Brutes left. Most continued to fight the Elites, until the remaining Prophets disappeared, and old pack rivalries began to cause dissent. This made it much easier for the Elites to destroy them.
We don’t actually know what has become of the Brutes, though I can’t see the Elites showing any form of mercy.
Many Brutes hightailed it out of High Charity during the Great Schism in order to return to their homeworld.

I bet Doisac is going down worse then Reach.
May some greater power have mercy on them, cause no one else will.
as far as i am concerned the brutes are gone, the covenant broke up and died with the prophet, the storm covenant rallied up more covenant and created their own new Storm Covenant in the 4 years chief is gone, searching for forerunner items
and no elite, gets on well with a brute, so if any brutes were left they were very likely denied from the new covenant
We may seem them in spin-off Halo games later on, but as for the main series that seems a bit iffy. It would be cool to see some Elite vs. Brute fights again!
Pre-Karen Travis the Elites were seriously hunting down the brutes as they should. I don’t see how that is going to be tied in now if they are going to be aiming for us at any capacity.
The Storm covies also decided not employ drones, not deploy Jackals in Skirmisher roles and not to equip Elites with jetpacks.
The Lore reason for this: 343i were to lazy to give Halo 4 proper enemy variety.
I find it funny how the Elites are supposed to be still fighting the Brutes in 2559, according to The Return, and yet there isn’t any mention of the Great Schism in Halo 4 and the Kilo-Five series.
I find it funny how the Brutes were much worse than humans were–slaughtering and eating the Elite councilors–and yet in Halo 4 and Kilo-Five the anger of the Elites is directed at humanity, whose only “crime” was not getting wiped out.
Alright so here’s how the situation is right now… At least it’s how I view it.
The Elites and Brutes pretty much hate each other, for the most part. The Elites, it would seem, want to wipe out both Humanity and the Brutes.
But the Sangheili know the Jiralhanae. They have no real form of industry or any way of maintaining themselves. Somewhat like the Elites right now.
Humanity on the other hand is able to sustain itself and is in THE best position to recover. They can start rebuilding right off the bat, while every other Covenant race has to learn how to rebuild and THEN do it.
So Humanity stands as the greatest POTENTIAL threat, so Elites like Jul want to eliminate them first. Jul KNOWS what they did was terrible and he thinks Humanity will seek revenge. He wants to finish them off before that happens.
He’s not too worried about the Brutes because I’m sure the Sangheili are betting on the Jiralhanae’s own internal feuds to weaken them while the Sangheili are busy with Humanity.
Once Humanity is gone, there is no doubt in my mind the Sangheili will direct all their attention at the Jiralhanae next.
So what does this mean in Halo 4? It means that there is a sizeable amount of Brutes left on Doisac, but we don’t see them because their primary conflict is with the Sangheili, not Humanity. While the Brutes aided in the genocide of Humanity, it was more out of religious reasons. Their hate of the Sangheili is more on a personal, which no doubt has taken priority.
