so I decided to play halo 2 anniversary legendary with the scarab skull on. Is it possible to kill tartarus with it one because it seems like I’m spending endless time trtrying to kill him. I wait for johnson to shoot him with the snpier I unload scarab shots at him but I seem to be getting nowhere.
Any answers or tips as to why it’s taking so long?
Nah i dont think so, i tried the same thing on normal and after 5 minutes of shooting him with the scarab skull on he hadnt dies until i threw a couple nades at him, the nades are what killed him not the scarab gun/:

I’d say about 3!
Use the Banshee trick, it still takes a few minutes but it does work. I spent a solid 20 min trying to kill him with a scarab gun and I was getting no where, then I tried grenades and that failed, and then I tried using the sword and that ended miserably.
I will have to look up how to do that and I’ll try the ggrenade method I have 4 plasmas and 2 frags so can’t go wrong there
It takes forever to do it with the scarab gun, but it does work. Just make sure you actually hit him. I do not think the splash damage affects him. Remember, after the 2nd wave of brutes reinforcements, he is almost dead.
thanks I will keep that in mind I might have been missing him but he would yell when I did get I shot in. I was sure I was getting close but then I’d accidently shoot the ground in front of me resulting in death lol
I just did it with a combo of gernades, scarab gun, and the elite captn sitting up with johnson spamming a carbine. I think the elite did most of the damage. Definitely did the kill shot.

it took me no more than a minute oddly enough.
if a teammate dies you had to start that right at the checkpoint now thats Bull!
Yeah, use Grenades. If you have the banana skull turned on you’ll have unlimited Grenades. You’ll have to play some cat and mouse but if you stick Tartarus when Johnson is about to shoot him for the third time the Sticky Grenade will go off in time before he gets his shield back. It’s the best way I found to Kill him (with the scarab gun being useless). Best of luck!
I seem to be getting no where with the scarab gun. I’m gonna try the grenade method and use a sword when I know he’s vulnerable!
The scarab skull is useless against him. Use either the sward or dual brute plasma rifles without the scarab skull on. Or you could just get a banshee in there.
Get a sword and you’ll have to be really patient. Find a spot around one of the holes on the middle platform and wait for him to be shot by the sniper, after his shields are down you can jump towards the hole and hit him with sword while falling into hole(so he won’t hit you while your falling away) keep doing it. 2 rounds of brutes will spawn and after the second round he will almost be done. Just make sure to have a good line of sight between him and snipe…and don’t try and swing on him unless you know he’s not ready for it. Just keep bouncing around the hole getting him to jump around…for use with scarab skull…worked for me

I’m more of a Spectre/4 Johnsons trick guy myself.
wait for Johnson to shot tartarus shields off then shower him with plasma/lead, you’ll know its working if brutes keep spawning
Tarturus with his holy hammer projects his shield forward. To be really effective you have to get behind him. Easy if you’re playing co-op otherwise you have to hide or use the elevation differences to your advantage. This applies to all weapons including scarab
I was beginning to think that maybe it was impossible to do on legendary with the scarab skull active, but it is possible; It just takes a lot of time & a good strategy. For myself, after many failed attempts & tired of having to constantly jump away from Tartarus, I decided to jump up on to the rotating platform where Miranda & Guilty Spark were hanging out on (It’s actually pretty easy to get to). Tartarus from then on mostly just stood still for Johnson to shoot him, & even though I had a carbine, most of the damage was done my either the Marine up on the platform with the turret that shoots green bullets or the Elites that jump over with swords. I definitely know that I wasn’t the one to get the last hit on him as the cutscene actually got triggered after I decided to stop shooting at him for like 20 seconds or so.
You can kill him with the Scarab skull but he only takes damage from it after Johnson snipes him. It takes about 5-6 shots. Do that or do the banshee trick.
