Question About Sprint

I wasn’t around Halo Waypoint during the times leading up to Halo 4, and I was wondering if the community was as against sprint back than as they are now. I know how some people have created threads where they detail how sprint affects gameplay (even if some of their arguments are biased). I know how some people create threads where they say sprint is good for Halo (even if some of their arguments are biased). I also know how people create threads filled with pure hate towards 343i because they included sprint. I just want to know if it was the same deal back in 2012.

yeah i still hate it but anyway we can do nothing so it’s ok

Yeah, and for good reason.

they have been against sprint since Halo reach, They slowly blanced it by giving it to everyone But people complained About it in halo 4 for being a get out a jail free card People said it might be able to be balanced more, One of the many theories on how to balance sprint was to some how tie it to shields so that it prevent people from running away.

That craziest part was people wanting sprint in halo Since CE people thought it was going to be in halo 2 They were even going to add it into halo 2 but it got scrapped. Then when Starry night Released for halo 3 people are almost sure it was going to be in halo 3, but were saddle disappointed especially when players found out the movement was so slow( slow feeling at least, FOV), Bungie heard fan clamoring for sprint so they added it into halo reach, when 343 took over they found using game statistics that people more often then not played using sprint then anything else, Numbers dont lie so 343 made it a standard feature for all players in halo 4, People complained so they balanced it further

I remember those days, and I was one of those people. H3 was/is too slow for me. It felt outdated the first time I played multiplayer.

Agreed I mean i love halo 3 but the slog movement was ridiculous, funny enough Reachs base speed was the same as halo 3’s Jump height not so much. Halo 4 and halo 5 movement is actually closer to Halo 2, and with the “upgrade” i bet its closer to halo CE once the full game comes out.

they were also thinking of including jetpack since CE but didn’t. i don’t get the “most people used it” argument for reach, i mean obviously the way bungie marketed the AA’s was that sprint was the most versatile but the others were a powerful but niche experience, of course it was going to be the most used when it’s the most versatile and had the most amount of the map design accommodating for it.

I was actually one against sprint and all the AAs in Reach, I hated being a Spartan 3 too but I understood it was in regards to the story. (omg we played something cuz of story!? #ithoughtgameplayrulledoverstory) But times changed and Halo 4 came out continued it was use to sprint and loved it by then, still didn’t care for loadouts/AAs but whatever. And now we’re in Halo 5 with spartan abilities everyone has and sprint, I actually like it, I personally felt like we’ve should of had that since the beginning.
