My question is about Spartans being able to deploy to the field with Non-Human weapons. Is there any canon reason as to why? I myself find it hard to believe that the UNSC or ONI would let a Spartan keep a Covenant Carbine, much less a Forerunner Light Rifle. Is the Cole Protocol still in effect? I know it’s probably only for gameplay reasons, but I’ll find it dubious if this is made canon. I just can’t picture the UNSC or Oni being fine with Spartans keeping non human weaponry.
I’d say its for gameplay. I don’t think the UNSC understands plasma weapons fully yet, and captured Forerunner weapons would likely be sent to the science teams.
Given how many times they’ve had to pick up weapons lying around in the field, they’re bound to have a few spares at home.
