Question about rebuying Halo 5 (bought Series S)

Hey all,

I own the disc version of Halo 5. I originally wanted to buy an Xbox Series X, but I have been unsuccesful at it for the past months. When news emerged that shortages for Series X might continue to go on for another year or so, I flipped and bought the Series S instead.

Anyway, as you probably know, it doesn’t have a discdrive, so my disc version of Halo 5 is worthless. When checking the game store on the series S it doesn’t show Halo 5 as an already owned game. Also the two skin packs for Evil Geniusses and Liquid I bought a while back are in the Xbox Store for the original price and not as already owned packs.

So I’m curious what will happen if I buy the digital version of Halo 5. Maybe some people have been in the same situation as I am (own the disc, but bought Series S) and know what will happen?

Will the game remember my profile and the packs/expansions I own, or not?

Thanks for any help!

FYI: I know Halo 5 is part of Game Pass, but I don’t own it and for the moment I’m also not interested in it.

The items unlocked in Halo 5 is tied to your Xbox account which means that you can use any collectibles obtained in the game as long as you play on your Xbox account. As an example, you can switch from playing the game on console A to console B and everything unlocked from console A should be transferred to your account in console B.

Thanks! I was hoping for that. On this site (Halowaypoint) I can see the unlocked packs. So now I think about it, it would be weird if buying a digital copy of Halo 5 would delete those items…
