Question about placement in ranked arena

As an experiment, I intentionally did “bad” in 10 games. The most I would do against the tryhards of Ranked Arena is take their shields down then move on, only getting a few accidental kills in the process (no more than 3, if any at alll)

I placed as Diamond 2. Consistently last place, negative K/D, and barely any kills. I assume this has something to do with my overall performance throughout arena/warzone, or else there is no explanation. I am constantly getting stuck in games with high onyx and levels 20 or sometimes better champions, and getting absolutely destroyed. On one hand, that’s a good way to get better at the game, by always playing against those that are better than you… but it’s also not fun to get stuck in that kind of loop.

So the question is: Why do I keep getting placed in games with people much better than me or getting put in games where everyone on my team is so poor performance I dont stand a chance of winning?

I recall with their new system there are counter measures in place just for this purpose so people who are actually good can’t “intentionally do bad” and get a lower rank. It’s to try and prevent smurfing so it looks like it maybe working.
