Question about Pioneer Fast Track Mod

I’m at level 50 and need to choose my specialisation.

Does the Fast Track mod just grant extra XP?

In the Prima guide it said to ‘turn it on to rank up faster’, but this was located in the commendation section, so I was wondering if it advances your commendations faster as well?

I’m really struggling with some commendations, and if this helps to advance them faster I may choose to use it. (Crawler - Sniper in the Enemies section is turning out to be a real pain).

EDIT: Thanks for all the advice. I actually decided to choose Pioneer in the end to help me rank up faster and unlock all of the other specialisations, armor and weapons sooner. Unfortunately I found out it doesn’t affect commendation increments, just XP.

The fast track mod will give you slightly more XP when it’s active.

I don’t think the Fast Track mod makes you work faster through the commendations.

If you equip a loadout with the Fast Track mod, you will get bonus EXP for as long as you have that loadout equipped. Use only your Fast Track Loadout throughout the entire match, and it will give you up to 500+ EXP in both War Games and Spartan Ops.

At the end of the game, there is a seperate tally for Fast Track that shows exactly how much bonus EXP you got.

Just a quick note, you can get up to 1170 bonus XP from Fast Track in Spartan Ops, you will rarely get anything lower than 900 as long as your games lasts more than five minutes and you’re playing it in Matchmaking.

Thanks for the replies guys, particularly the first one where you addressed the question I was specifically asking (about commendation advancement), but thanks also to the others for the info on XP advancement as well.

I think I will pick this one as the Fast Track Mod sounds pretty useful.

So does the pioneer give enough exp to get through 10 levels easier? like if your lvl 70 and you want to get to 80 fast. Yes? No?

I recommend you do this if you want to level up faster with the Fast Track On.

Lets say, per match I'll give you a 500 extra xp if you do a average match. In Spartan Ops it will give you 1100 extra xp if you kill more than 5 enemies.

Yes, thanks. I did choose it in the end (this topic is pretty old now).

I’ve used it in Spartan OPs since other Tactical Packages aren’t as necessary there as they are in Matchmaking. I’ve been getting 9000+ XP per Matchmade Spartan OPs game!

It isn’t worth it. You need to earn ~300,000 xp to get a perk that gives you about 1,000 xp more in future games… but you are handicapping yourself in those games so they won’t be as good.

once you get unlock the perk majig at 60 then you get 500 a match extra i think probs a bit more, doesnt sound like a lot but 2 games thas 1000, it soon adds up, so id say it is worth it :slight_smile:

With the glut of XP available in the game, I would say that you should just select that perk that appeals to you :slight_smile:

Regardless of whether or not you will use Fast Track, I suggest selecting Pioneer first. If you KNOW 100% that you will NEVER EVER use it, then sure, select it last at 120, but even if you might want to use it once, first is best.

Ever since I unlocked Fast Track, I’ve been using it in all 5 of my loadouts, which limits me a lot, but I figure I’ll just use the other perks once I hit 130, and then I’ll never need Fast Track again.

I use it, because I want to unlock all the specializations as quickly as possible. If that’s not a goal of yours then it’s not really worth it. Just pick whichever one you want the most. It is good to note though that fast-track has more of a use the earlier you pick it. If you choose it as your last specialization it’s completely worthless because there is a level cap at that point and nothing else to unlock.

Well you don’t get it till you’re done with Pioneer, so you can’t use it with Pioneer.

Fast Track itself is a Support Upgrade in your Loadouts, so you use it depending on which loadout you’re using in which Playlist/Spartan Ops.

Yes, like someone else said before me you can use the Fast Track armor mod during your later specialisations if you choose to. It simply takes up the armor mod slot for a loadout.

I preferred to have a more useful armor mod during Matchmaking and used Fast Track as my armor mod when playing Spartan Ops.
