I’ve been thinking about re-buying Halo 4 when I noticed the Legendary Slayer playlist a week or two ago (yes, it took me that long to understand what the gametype is, sue me). It sounds like a playlist I could enjoy but there seems to be a problem with it. Everytime I can check the population from this website without connection issues, there’s always like 300 players playing it at most
So, my question is: does the playlist ever have more than 300 players playing? I wouldn’t really want to buy the game once again, only to find out that there’s always a very high chance that the matches will be very laggy.
I actually have less JiP matches in Legendary Slayer then I do in Infinity Slayer and the population is decent enough during peak times. I would recommend playing it during those times though.
I haven’t had much issues with lag and I play from Australia usually on US host (and sometimes Japanese). This chart shows the playlist population highs and lows since it’s release.

I would read the Feedback thread to get an idea about why the playlist population is so low.
The main problem is AR only starts with no secondary. Coupled with infrequent precision pick-up, this has led to very one sided gameplay where the team winning the initial rush for power weapons usually dominates for the rest of the match.
Personally I would at least wait until they implement Magnum secondaries and fix some of the weapon spawns before repurchasing the game. If you have a friend who has Halo 4, who would allow you to test the playlist before buying the game, that would definitely be the best option.
