I find it odd, and can’t find any information on it, but why was Charum Hakkor chosen as the test site for the test firing of a halo? It seems a bit too coincidental that this planet just happened to be chosen as test site…a planet with the last remaining Precursor on it. Also, I find it difficult to reconcile that the halo was test fired on a “low level”, which seemed to be just enough to break the shackles of the Prisoner.
As we all have seen in hundreds of posts, there is a strong correlation with the Precursors and the Flood, the Prisoner and the Gravemind. Did the Forerunner Council or even a Forerunner with a hidden agenda send Mendicant Bias to Charum Hakkor for the purpose of releasing the Prisoner?
Thoughts?
I haven’t read Cryptum yet, but what are the Precursors? Space lobsters?
Also, I think you should be questioning why the Forerunner decided to keep some Flood alive.
Charum Hakkor was a previous Precursor planet and was a stronghold of the human resistance to the forerunners. There were a LOT of precursor buildings and artifacts there. The prisoner was also kept there (the humans had to really deep to find him, so he wa probably put there before the Precursors went away). They test fired the Halo there to put down the rebellion and see what halos effects were. The halo “wave” also effects Precursor stuff cause its based on neurophysics. The effect is that all precursor things are destroyed, thus freeing the prisoner.
