Quality of Life Changes

Hello, and thank you for reading

After 15 hours in the beta I feel I’ve gained enough experience to talk about some things I think would improve the quality of the game.

  1. The ability to see challenges mid-match
Attaching the challenges to the Esc screen or the leaderboard screen would make following and completing them much easier. Not to mention once you finish a challenge you don’t like you don’t have to keep playing like that for a whole match until you find out at the end whether or not you completed it.

  2. The ability to mute individual players on mouse and keyboard
Halo has always been a social game and meeting new people and having fun with them for a match has always been a plus for me when playing. That being said when one guy is blasting loud annoying music or something else I simply don’t want to here and I’m unable to mute just him its frustrating. As a mouse and keyboard player I don’t know if it works differently on controller but the only way I’ve found to mute these types of players is to go to setting and turn off everyone including the people I might want to hear in my game. Not only that but this setting doesn’t even work properly as I have to go back to my settings and reenable, or rather disable it every match.

  3. Putting grouped up people in the same fire team for big team battle
It was very disorienting the first time we hoped into big team battle and noticed our names were not green on each others screens but instead some random players we did not know. If we are already grouped up on the menu why split us up when we get in the game?

If some form of what I’ve mentioned currently exists or is planned to exist in the game please let me know!
Thank you for reading my suggestions and I hope you have a nice day.

I’ll add something here that’s been bothering me. When you click play to search for a match, make the 3 second count down actually be 3 seconds. It’s such an elongated 3 count.

And part two for that same thing is when you click play, you must sit there and wait for that count down before you can look at any other menu which just makes it feel even longer. So many times I click to search for a match and immediately click to check my challenges, then a minute later see that it canceled my search because of that.

So basically make it so if I click play, it doesn’t cancel out when I enter another menu and also make it actually be 3 seconds

Great feedback, I agree these would be great QoL changes.

I think an easy workaround for 1 would be just having a tracker pop in the UI as progress is made, as it does for MCC. That way you don’t have people stepping out of the action to see or they completed a challenge or not. Of course the whole thing would also be helped significantly by the challenges having more synergy with multiple game modes, or the (hopefully eventual) ability to choose game types.

  1. Is getting to be more of a consistent issue. Prior to today I was only running into it about 15% of the time, today we didn’t get a single game in BTB where we filled out a squad.

There are alot of quality of life changes that need to be done for the enjoyment and flow of the game. It is clear that 343i wants Halo Infinite to have fast TTKs(Time To Kill) to appeal to a larger audience but at the same time they do not want to turn Halo into a twitch shooter where the blink of an eye means instant death. With that being said, the things I am about to mention really counteracts what it seems 343i wants to accomplish.

Power-ups and their function as equipment: 343i introduced this back in H5, when you pick up an OS(Over shield) or an AC( Active Camo) an animation would play of your spartan picking up the powerup, clicking it, then jamming it into your chest. You are defenseless during this 1.5 to 2 second animation and I am less than thrilled to see it return.
Now with Powerups being treated as equipment you must now pick up the item then activate it, which puts you in the same animation from H5. roughly 3 seconds or so is wasted doing this. Just for reference Aozolai has recorded the TTKs and the AR will kill in 1.20s

With roughly 40 hrs of gameplay clocked in, I’ve run into 2 weapons and 2 equipment literally stacked on top of eachother in several matches. 1 of these equipment being the OS, either from someone who dropped it or dying on top of the spawn. Now I have to waste time shifting through the equipment trying to not only pick up the OS but then using it in the event that enemies are on the way.

BTB AR starts: With AR sidekick being the starting weapons instead of BR AR, i’ve witnessed ppl waiting at weapon racks for a BR, Commando, or any precision weapon. This is slowing up the game for obvious reasons.

No true progression: With only a battle pass and even less so the challenge system is the only way to progress it, every game I have played so far, there has been individuals who throw the game in order to complete their challenges. I cannot say that I am angry at them because this is a flaw that 343i intentionally placed within the game. However, matches are drawn out for the sake of challenges.

No Map Veto, or expanded playlists: Without the ability to not only choose your gamemode like in older Halos (such as Slayer CTF, ect) I’ve run into situations where my teammates will just leave because it isn’t the gamemode they wanted to play or the map they wanted.(Don’t get me wrong the map situation could still happen even with voting but it would be less frequent) The bots on our team isn’t as good as actual players so the game becomes harder until a real person fills in.

HUD: This ones a little more minor but I have caught myself double looking because of the jumbled mess of info at the bottom right of my screen. Older Halo’s had info in each conor while your Shielding in the upper center. With the info spreaded out you could quickly glance over and read what you wanted to see. Now we have weapons, Grenades, and equipment all in the same corner, and you have to manually switch to your secondary grenade just to see what you have.
I’m pretty sure that there are more elements that are effectings the game in a negative way, these are just the more frequent events that has negatively effected me.
