In previous halos that do have assassinations your teammates are capable of shooting the person your assassinating and stealing the kill. In halo infinite can we fix this to where teammates can’t steal the kill from you please. I don’t mind the enemies killing me to save their teammate but just my teammates should not be able to steal my assassination from me it gets extremely annoying after awhile.
YOINK!
I love stealing assassinations from people.
I think YOINK has voted no. Yeah it’s annoying… but YOINK
first I thought waypoint was censoring the hell out of this thread before I registered that people were actually writing yoink.
I don’t mind people to be able to steal assassinations. I try to avoid stealing, and I know many others do too, but sometimes I do it by accident.
I don’t really care if people steal my assassinations, I may wisper “cheeky bugger” to the screen but I don’t get angry.
Sometimes getting my assassination stolen has saved my life if I’ve misjudged the situation. So I guess it can sometimes be a tactical advantage to yoink.
Yoinks are part of the assassination concept.
That being said I don’t think there should be a reward for doing it.
Assassination? do you mean: holding them still for me?
I kinda like stealing assinations from people. But I won’t lie I kinda feel bad when I do lol.
Not everyone steals assassinations from people. I don’t, for example. Then again, I don’t do a lot of things which are considered unpleasant or unsporting in-game. Anyway, on the somewhat rare occasions I can land an assassination myself in Halo 5, I don’t get the kill stolen from me that often. On a related note, I recently discovered that Halo 5 has an animation for assassinating with a Gravity Hammer, which is absolutely stunning!
Ah, it’s just too bad they were completely removed because the multiplayer dictators don’t like them. I was really hoping to find new animations in campaign, especially against Brutes, which were absent from Halo 4 & 5 and only had one assassination that could be performed on them in Reach.
Back in the H:R days I used to yoink one of my best friends assainstaions all the time, we did it to eachother actually and every time we would do it we’d cry out yoink-nuts
Absolutely not, for the exact opposite reason: I’ve seen it countless times that teammates went in for an assassination on an enemy that somebody was in the process of fighting while they were distracted, trying to steal the kill. Making enemies un-yoink-able would rob players the option to actually finish their own kills.
The actual “quality of life change” needed for assassinations is to let players cancel assassinations mid-process, changing it into a standard beatdown when you let go of the button. That way “accidental” assassinations from having the game not registering the button press correctly can be avoided. Also, you’re nonger stuck in an endless animation while enemies (or allies) shoot you (or the other guy) dead.
There aren’t any assasinations in Halo Infinite, so you don’t have to worry about it. At least at launch.
the ability to yoink was a great feature as it took even more skill and luck to properly get an assassination.
and sometimes, just sometimes the halo community is absolutely based. I was player reach BTB the other day and got an assassination and like 4 teammates came up and started tbaging while i was doing it.

if I’m playing with friends then we all go for the YOINK! but i try not to against unknowns. It is so satisfying taking it away and it makes it that much sweeter when you pull them off. Normally if an unknown is nearby doing one, i try to get there and -Yoink!- around the act so the recipient can really have that “third person” view of him or herself.
im not too terribly disappointed personally but I think when they’re introduced they could have a plethora of assassinations broken down into different types (IE: air, ground, dare i say grapple shot, etc). I know my son (11 yrs) is angry about it…he swore he wasn’t playing infinite when it came out because of it. Guess who he wants to be for Halloween though…
There’s some kind of perverted temptation seeing the opportunity to killsteal from an assassination, but I haven’t done it since I was like 11.
I don’t like it when others do it to me so I guess I just learnt not to do it myself lmao

Sadly somehow 343 didn’t manage to get assassinations into the game…
Bungie had 3 years to develop Reach, while also releasing ODST a year before… and they invented assassinations from scratch and implemented them beautifully. Somehow with 6 years 343 didn’t manage to include them? Expecting a pretty weak showing in December…
In my experience most people are good enough sports to let you get the kill and if they’re not, well, that just lets you know who you’re playing with. And besides, it can be helpful at times if another enemy pops up and starts attacking you.
