So with Halo 5 you have to play ten games of a certain multiplayer game mode in order to qualify at a certain ranking. What factors determine your rank from those ten games? Is it wins or kills or both?
Wins I believe
Win / Loss is the major factor after placing, but I’m sure your initial matches also taking into account your personal skill, the skill of those you are playing against, any MMR ratings from previous seasons, etc.

Id probably say this, but 343 haven’t actually ever told us. Or told us how they have made initial division placements fair, if you could ever find a rare case of that being true.
