Qualified too high?

I’m exclusively playing Team Slayer atm to train myself because I’ve finally gotten an aim setting I’m used to. When I qualified this month, I ended up in diamond, which I believe was a big mistake (my win/loss says it all.) I’m soloing so I don’t really have a team but I always work with the teams I’m with. I try my best to cover them when they make plays. Though, I feel like I’m always at the end of the barrel instead of my teammates. It gets a little frustrating sometimes, especially if my team loses because I know I didn’t play my best. I’ve started to feel like I should be ranked in silver or gold rather than diamond just so I could ‘git gud’ and work my way up. Did the matchmaking make a mistake putting me in diamond?

No its not a mistake. In slayer I won 8/10 of my games and I went from plat 4 to diamond 4. Feels good

It takes into consideration you rank the season before. Maybe you rush and challenge too much that might be your problem.

It’s definitely possible.

I’m pretty certain it’s based off of your W/L Ratio in your placement matches. If you did extremely well in those placements, the game would base those 10 games as your standard performance, and place you accordingly. However, in my opinion, this is a blessing in disguise.
As you lose and climb down the ranks you feel are too high for you, you will eventually find a rank where you can win, fairly strongly. So by being higher up, it’ll make it easier to find your true rank.

Not sure if that makes any sense. Hopefully it does.

I think ranking has been broken for months. I watched Naded play loads of doubles with some guy to get his ranking, his mate did a lot worse and got Champion when he Naded only got Onyx. He got like double the kills and half the deaths, and obviously the same win ratio. Also Waypoint says me all time highest rank is Diamond 1, and it’s not. I always get ranked way, WAY to high then watch in dismay as I lose fight after fight and slip down the rankings. Tbh in my experience ranking has NEVER worked properly on Halo, but it’s only been this bad on Halo 4 and 5.

you cant even place champion so idk how you saw that. The highest you can place from what i heard is onyx 1700.

Well that can’t be true because I watched the whole stream and I saw the guy get champion. If that’s not supposed to happen then it’s probably just another symptom of the broken ranking system.

I stay back with my teammates more than I rush and mostly only rush when they do. I don’t really go for power weapons so when my teammates push towards one I cover them. But this tends to lead into situations where I’m double teamed or triple teamed.

My question is about the qualifying matches. I am constantly getting placed against people between platinum 5 and diamond 4. I’m not this level player at all. So why do I always get them? Just now I was pitted against onyx tier!! What the duck, 343?
I got to diamond 1 tier late 2015 playing with a regular team. Now I only play solo and I’m hating your game. Warzone is the only viable mode to play.
