Q: Do you guys actually know that Stockpile IS NOT slayer right?

I just said this in a thread, but for real I was laughing my head off last night.
(As well as making some comments like “must be console players”, “no-mic no-brains”, “Must be IGN staff” or “Must be Monster drinkers:stuck_out_tongue: )

Jokes aside, you people will straight up run past the seeds, not even dare to look at them even, and then come onto the forums and post about the BP/cosmetics/BR?

I was laughing, literally just me sitting on the pile of batteries cough-seeds-cough and no one cared for like a good few minutes before people slowly realized the little symbols go into the wittle baskets for points…

although one of the matches it was just me and some chad repulsing the entire pile of seeds up the hill towards our base
Glory to the sandbox

Do we need more academy for this stuff?

LOL this is so funny. Preach! Nobody plays objectives thanks to the influx of CoD players thanks to the game being FTP.

I mean, is this really unexpected? How many times have you played pretty much any objective gametype in Halo over the years and you see people treating it like Team Slayer and completely ignoring the oddball/hill/territory/bomb/flag/etc? Players gonna do what they have always done, lol.

that’s 343s fault for making it so a playlist that combines all the game types. Me? I don’t want to play objectives. At all. I’m good with Slayer or some variant of Slayer. Nothing more, nothing less. Maybe this will send a message Incase they do this in the actual release day. Cause I ain’t playing it on launch if I don’t seen “Social” or “Team Slayer” as its own entity.

TBF, we saw this in Siege too. We’d get a TDM fragger freaking in VoiP
how is this bottom fragger isocoomer getting MVP?
and I’ll say something like
idk, I have more than 3 braincells and carried you?” before their -Yoink!- talk gets cut off by the loading screen.

and @ReturninWarrior that’s not a dig at you btw, I’m pretty sure Halo, CoD, etc have always had some form of TDM only selection. So it would be weird if that was excluded at launch.

I wonder if they’re testing certain stuff in BTB first because day 1 I pretty much got Fragmentation TDM every single match until after midnight and poof suddenly we’re getting the other maps and modes.

IMO stockpile is a bad gametype and strictly worse than CTF or total control. So yeah… I’m just going to keep playing slayer on it.

Yeah, I personally like the play list because this is pretty much how I like to play. I’m always jumping around between objective and slayer, but I don’t know why 343 wouldn’t have different playlists like everything else. Even better would be a check list of sorts only searching for the modes and maps you want to play.

This, made worse with the poor battlepass that encourages not playing the objective. It doesn’t really matter if you win, it matters if you get commando kills, or destroy shade turrets or whatever, so people are going to focus on that. Though hopefully a bit of that will disappear next week when they implement the new challenges.

Stockpile is a crap game mode. I mean this is the most that they really gave us instead of King of the Hill. Hell I’ll take headhunter would be awesome in a big team setting

Well, if you want to stretch it, killing the enemy team does help your team as you stop them from getting the plasma battery things ¯_(ツ)_/¯

There is no benefit to winning the game there may aswell not be any objectives at all just slayer so everyone can focus on this garbage system for leveling up

please put a slayer-only playlist

I mean no one played the objective since objective gametypes became a thing- I wouldn’t blame CoD or ftp on that.

The issue is we have 3 playlists that are all mixed slayer and a bunch of objectives. I’m playing solo quick play with a bunch of idiots. I just want to kill people not get frustrated the oddball holder won’t come to a safer spot or the guy with the flag refuses to get in the warthog.

@isocuda My first game was a BTB on Deadlock. I had luckily read a post before hand similar to yours with tricks such as throwing seeds to team mates in a daisy chain.

My whole team was participating and we won very quickly. Then I got the exact same game and map again and we’ll the results were of your worst nightmare. The only fortunate thing was the other team was just as bad and wound up losing some how. I was literally carrying the team with seeds that’s is

Still had fun though so there is that.

Well, yeah, you’re right. But the progression doesn’t encourage winning, and I’ve got other stupid challenges to complete. I didn’t sign up for stockpile. Playing with randoms is a nightmare because nobody plays objective, so it’s more fun to just play slayer and improve gun skill. I find my mental health deteriorating the more I’m concerned with playing the objective and winning, and a drastic improvement to my mood when I’m just shooting dudes. Maybe this would be less of a problem if we could choose our modes and had a reason to win. I’ve been playing all day, and haven’t gotten a single slayer match. I’m burnt out on objective modes.

Yeah, it will get better over time and depending on how matchmaking gets adjusted.

I also don’t want to funnel non-OBJ players into OBJ modes super often either, more so when they’re in the mood for it. Same as when I get TDM over and over.

Like running around aimlessly shooting each other in the face IS fun in a cycle, but I like the added complexity of developing a strategy, coordinating with others, and problem solving. It basically fills in the void from my years of team sports as a kid  (that’s why I like Siege, Rust, iRacing, etc)

Which I will say (to anyone at 343 lurking) is that the 4v4 objective modes have been really exciting and balanced, even when they’re not balanced haha. I’ve seen it a bit with BTB, but given it more player and more variables there’s a few kinks to work out. Maybe it’s as simple as the BP hopefully.

Halo is very serious, except for when it’s not

I’m at the point in my life where I will happily say I’m a casual gamer, so for me it’s all about fun and not worrying about sweating it out while I’m on.

With that said I’d still like to win and will try to do so meaning if it’s CTF iGO for the flag, Koth the hill is where you’ll find me and etc. When people tend to worry about completing a challenge for the fear of missing out more then playing the game as intended, I will admit it gets frustrating after about the 5th game in a row it happens.

As you said hopefully it’ll work it’s way out in the coming weeks with a growing population and, as people realize that won’t be missing anything.

Honestly, it’s easier if you ice break on mic.

Yeah you’ll get XBL level harassment sometimes or just a lobby full of shy bois, but rough/bad callouts are better than no call outs in any game mode.

The last flight was amazing for me because there were usually a handful of ice breakers and goofballs on at the start, so others would come out of their shells and you can change the outcome of the game.

Even in slayer it matters when you start grouping and pushing at the right times from call outs. I swear though as the years go on, people are getting less and less socialized (except for girls, I know why they stay quiet on the mic)

But even little stuff like “Hey can you guys shoot those guys while I run this up the left lane?” helps in Duracell Derby. :stuck_out_tongue:

Same, I mean I used to do Go4’s and I have an iRacing championship to my name, but like the vast majority of my time is casual play. Like R6 casual with my community and now we’re moving over to Halo.

So I will eventually play ranked when we’re in the mood, but majority of it is casual play and barking at the lobby to come do silly -Yoink!-.

If 90% of my game is still awkward nerds not communicating and ignoring what I’m saying, or being toxic, I don’t see the point. If you start making callouts like it’s ranked, people are more likely to mute you or tell you to shut up. Again, most people want to play slayer, but we’re not exactly able to choose our gamemodes, on top of horrible challenges that encourage you to do stupid stuff, and no incentive to win. It’s just not worth the effort to care about the objective. Half the time I’m just wanting the match to end as quickly as possible because it’s not relevant to my challenge.
