PV tweaks

I know there might have been many threads on this topic but I think some of the tweaks definitely should be new.
Also I know the game isnt out yet and 343 is tweaking stuff … which is to say PV might or might not actually need tweaks which I am suggesting … but here I am with my opinions.

PV tweaks:

  1. Show static image of players not dynamic. As in it shows a static image not a video and that is all you see till the time PV is on - ofcourse the rooms geometry you can see dyamically. So if the player you scanned is moving PV user wont be able to see that.
Pro: it severely reduces PVs strength without making it useless.
Con: I think main reason for adding PV was to counter Camo - this tweak might be counter-intuitive…

  2. Alert the player who was just scanned by not a sound but with a direction pointer or a marker to the player who has used PV. This will reveal the location of PV user. So PV will have to be used cautiously.

  3. Once a PV is activated it will flow only in that POV area not the whole 360 degrees of the player. Even if the player rotates he won’t be able to see the PV effect there. Think like when player activates PV and rotates some part of the screen will have PV view other part will have normal view. This might be difficult to implement considering the stage at which the code might be now.

  4. Attach a radius to PV so that it cant scan beyond that radius.

  5. For PV AA reduce the radius of radar or remove radar completely. Well this one is kind of useless idea but this could be used with points above.

Whadday think ?

After watching this video is all the more reason why it needs a HUGE balance overhaul or if it was up to me i would remove it from the game completely.

Here’s what I thought they should do:

1)- Lower the range
2)- Alert everyone it scans with a noise
3)- Everyone it scans will get a marker on their radar to the direction the PV came from
4)- The user will gain a bright point of light on his visor that is also visible through walls, revealing his direct location to anyone he scans.

Also, optionally:

5)- The PV only scans moving players. If you’re standing still it doesn’t register you.
6)- Vision is highly distorted while in use

This way, if some noob thinks “Ha, I’m gonna use this awesome gambreaking AA all the time!”, he’ll lure the entire enemy team to him every time he does and do himself more harm than good.
