does anyone agree that PV shouldnt make it into competitive play? or should be removed from matchmaking completely? i just think it just fits in campaign perfectly but doesnt really have a useful aspect in multiplayer, it kinda breaks the whole map flow completely, and makes it impossible to move through out the map strategically?
your thoughts on PV or any other aspect?
by the way im loving the game! already have my limited edition payed for!!!
If you’re talking about MLG playlists, then LOL, because they’re automatically taking out 95% of all Halo sequels to keep it like “good ol’ Halo 2.”
Can someone please explain what PV stands for and what it means?
EDIT: This is my 101st post. I am a Recruit- Bronze now.

no, im saying if they do a split ranked system, social and ranked, then social can have all of the options and ranked can have a more classic style without PV
of course MLG wont have it lol.

I guess I look like silly now because I didn’t know that. haha
If there’s a playlist that is intended for core competitive Halo it shouldn’t have any AA/tactical packages/support upgrade, custom or preset loadouts beyond being able to select an appropriate starting weapon for the player’s play style. Game variants with or without sprint and different default start weapons would be fine in the playlist, but the rest should be left out.
This isn’t territorial -Yoink!-, mind you, this is simply giving many players (myself included despite being bad to mediocre at all Halo MP) who’ve wanted to see an updated return of the best parts of the original trilogy’s multiplayer a playlist where they can get that. And I love how Infinity Slayer is looking, too, so don’t make it out like everyone who wants this is raining on that parade; it’s shaping up to look really fun.
If Halo 4 has a hundred other playlists that each make Halo play like a different sort of game than the original trilogy that’s absolutely fine, so long as this one playlist is also in, live from server launch.
As far as ranks, visible skill ranks are a good thing for just about every playlist. It tells you what the matchmaking system is actually doing with that Trueskill foundation with each match, especially with the visible closest skill range while searching for a match. They shouldn’t be confined to just one playlist. Having this, along with the separate progression system for unlocking stuff would be perfect. As long as 2nd account rank boosting isn’t as easy as it used to be.
If it’s not fit for competitive play it shouldn’t be in the game.

No because not everyone plays competitively it should stay. That’s why there is an MLG.

No, they’ll take out all the casual/random aspect of the games to make it balanced and competitive, and then people like you will have a little cry about it.

If a mechanic only works at a non-competitive level then it’s broken, and means, when used in a competitive manner, unbalances the game dramatically. Therefore if it’s not competitive, it should go. It’s in every player’s best interests.
You may not want to play competitively, but what happens when you get matched up with someone that does?

No it’s not in every player’s best interest. For one you don’t speak for every one and neither do I.
Also nothing should be removed unless it’s truly broken or not being used how it was intended. Not because it simply feels ‘competitive’ or not.
Also I find the line between competitive and casual very fuzzy because in my experience any weapon,AA,etc. is only as good as the hands using it.

I never said anything about feel, nor did I say I was speaking for everyone. If a mechanic is able to be abused at a higher level of play than that mechanic is not good, for anyone. Lower skilled players will be affected by the abuse, and higher skilled players will too. Mechanics that are fit for competitive play don’t suffer from this effect.

Something being labeled as casual and something actually being abused are 2 different things.

No. I definately think it needs a nerf, but removal of a mechanic like that is worse than leaving it op

Have you even listened to what the MLG players have been saying about Halo 4? They are basically saying that season 1 will keep everything as default with no radar. They want to test everything first. They don’t want to change the game. At all.
But I will say that PV should still be in all the playlists as you most likely won’t even need it when you are actually good and know the map. It will be a lot less useful for most people, but some people will still like it.
Going to answer the question: Yes. It should stay in ranked playlists.
The only thing I can agree about PV is that it may last a little too long and can be used too frequently. However, if you sit far away enough to see your Motion Tracker, and took the time to learn the maps’ layout, and can hear the noise PV makes, then you should be fine.
You got all the tools needed to learn when an enemy is coming to you, and a support package that can increase the range of your radar. Use them. I can agree that it is used a little too frequently, and that PV lasts too long. However, you guys act that it enables the player to walk or shoot through walls as well.
The more they have to TAKE OUT to make it competitive the worse it is for everyone
No one wants 20 different settings depending on what playlists they are in Ranked or Social
Just look at Reach MLG vs. normal MM settings totally different
Look at Arena settings vs. Normal MM settings changed alot very few things the same
Ok look at halo 3
MLG settings vs. Normal MM different but not by much
Look at Ranked playlists in Halo 3 vs. Normal MM settings They were the SAME
BECAUSE THEY WERE BALANCED AND COMPETITIVE and yet both social and Ranked used the same settings
Halo 4 needs to find what works best and use it across the enter game not each playlist have different settings .
