In Halo 2 the X button was put to a much cooler use when we were able to board vehicles (or prophets, bahahaha) with it, as well as operate turrets. this was very cool.
This thread is my thread, which I and the community will be discussing what good actions the “X” button could be used for in Halo 4.
Here are a few of mine
-Hold X for ammo drop (FireFight or campaign, you go to a radio tower and request an ammo drop)
-Hold X to swap weapons with team mate in Multiplayer (this isn’t my idea, so don’t be givin me credit! but anyhow, you and a teammate look at eachother, and if you BOTH are holding down X at the same time it will make you guys swap weapons)
-Hold X to infect - for infection, instead of stabbing a player with a sword, you must first kill them however you wish, and then press X over their dead body for them to get infected, your spartan (or hopefully flood :D) will do a sweet animation where he bites or just does something to infect the other player.
-More interactive maps
-Press X to repair vehicle - (Maybe it should be a pick-up equipment only??) Will call in a sentinel which will quickly beam up your ride to a flawless state.
Sorry if my ideas go against your opinions. feel free to leave feedback, and also drop some of your ideas here too!
When you press X, you have to take your thumb off of the look stick, compromising your ability to watch your surroundings. I’d prefer that its use be kept minimal.

I like where your head is at (trying to add more features with less buttons) but X is already filled with functions. Tap X to reload, while over a weapon hold X to swap, while in front of a switch hold X to activate.
Y could use some more functionality. When held down it used to swap your secondary weapon while dual wielding. If dual wielding is not reintroduced then holding Y should do something else.
With the X button already doing important things like swapping weapons and entering vehicles, it’d be too much of a cluster F-bomb to add more to it. Don’t want to accidentally pick up a weapon or hop in the nearest Mongoose when I’m trying to do something.
I don’t know about the X button, I would just rather have the ability to configure the controls how I want them instead of picking from a few pre-defined configs.
guys, X is considered the ACTION BUTTON in halo. this isn’t necesarrily for X, but for whatever the button for action is.
What this thread was meant to say is what more actions could we use X for? that means these would only be able to happen at current times when we are at an object/vehicle/weapon/item that we can interact with.
