I’ve just started playing Halo 4 a bit more often. Just wanted to know a few things.
What’s the highest level you can get to? Is this based on the amount you play or how good you are? I’m under the impression that it’s the former?
Will there be more game modes introduced into Action Sack?
What’s considered a good KD nowadays? I feel like I’m so average at this game, I put a bit of thought into Halo Reach to get good, but now I just play for fun with friends and I have a similar KD anyway :P.
My friend seems to level up at a much quicker rate than me, and he’s a higher level. We can play for the same amount of time with each other and I might go up one, while he goes up two or three? Any reasons for this?
Cheers.
The highest ranks are 130 for your SR (based on XP) and 50 for your CSR which is Halo 4’s skill based rank. You can read more about CSR and how it works here.
Yes Bravo has mentioned they have more Action Sack gametypes in the works.
Above a 1 is ok and above a 1.50 is pretty good.
Commendations, challenges, and match performance may be why he is out leveling you.
Theres 2 “levels”. SR, which goes up to 130, and unlocks stuff, and CSR, which supposedly ranks people on performance, up to 50.
SR you get no matter how good you play, given you play long enough.
CSR, supposedly ranks people based off other others CSR that you play against. Half the playlists do it individually, taking all 8 performers and ranking 1-8 (or 1-16) based on score, the other half are team based and go off win/loss, and rank up slower.
Both go up at different speeds, based on performance.
Current SR (progression) limit is still 130, although that may change.
The new CSR (“skill”)limit is 50.
A good K/D is any K/D.
Your friend probably has the Fast Track tactical package. He’s not necessarily better than you.
I wouldn’t get too wrapped up about rank, as it doesn’t really seem to matter much these days.
Thanks for the replies.
I have a 1.49 KD and quit out an awful lot, my CSR in big team is 15 and 22 in action sack. Does quitting put it down a bit? I’m also not playing too much, maybe 5 games max every 3 or 4 days. Does the amount you play get factored in?
Also is the CSR shown in game? Can’t say I remember seeing it.

Man, you HAVE been away.

How often you play that should not matter CSR, and CSR is not showed ingame you must check it in your Stats app here at waypoint.

Haha I don’t pay much attention. Just join my mates party and wait for the games to start whilst browsing on my laptop in between. :L

Cheers. Didn’t think so. May try and get a bit better at this game. So many annoying variables though that can screw you over compared to previous Halo’s.
At least no armour lock though.
I would say an average players Slayer k/d is 2+, unless you are MLG, as I doubt you can attain that against other pros.

Oh I forgot to mention that if you keep quiting games you might get a temp ban
so you should try to stop doing so.

CSR= Can’t See Rank

Oh fair enough. My mate is better than me, I see him as a maybe top 20% end player whereas I thought I was maybe average - slightly above.
Obviously not though. Haha.
Didn’t know you could get banned for quitting. Don’t think I play enough for it to make a difference though.
Halo Reach had the quit ban as well. A lot of people think that 1+ is good, but I have a 2+ slayer k/d and I am just average.
> I would say an average players Slayer k/d is 2+, unless you are MLG, as I doubt you can attain that against other pros.
Just by basic math, the “average” K/D is less than 1, considering 1 person dies every time 1 person gets a kill, and adding any suicides or betrayals as deaths, brings the expected statistical average of 1 to less than 1.
Considering most everyone that had any skill surely left Halo 4 long ago, it leaves mostly “social” players, and a smattering of “good kids.” Due to the obvious lopsided number of social players, lots of “good kids” will just feed off know-nothing players and bring their KDs up without any effort. Thus, the “better” at halo you really are, the unrealistically higher K/D ratio you should probably have.
If CSR worked, and had been implemented since day one, most everyone would have a close to 1:1 K/D ratio, as you would always be playing people who measure up to your “skill levels”.
Plenty of people with 2+ or 5+ or 10+ KD ratios arent even really good. They mostly just feed off guests and novice players in Big team, sit back invis sniping the entire game in an objective gametype, or as some of my newfound friends love to do, go into objective/CTF, cap 4 times, and wait out the entire rest of the game and just spawncamp. The known halo universe is so flipped on its head nowadays its hard to make any rightful sense of it.
Guy on my team went 57-3 in a mantis the other day. It doesnt mean hes good at anything.
Well, you can not really feed Slayer k/d in CTF or Objective…

Well, they decided to make Halo 4 more “accessible” to new players. As a result, “getting better” is really not that hard, if you define “getting better” as being able to get more kills than the other guy. In my opinion, you will be an all around better player if you can avoid using power weapons and stay alive longer.
BTW, Armor Lock was an AA designed to frustrate H3 players that leaned on the BR and plasma grenades to maintain their 50. I don’t want to start anything here because I know it’s cool to hate AL, but I just can’t imagine Master Chief crying “No Fair” if his enemy used one.
Generally speaking, SPARTANS don’t worry about what the other guy has.
SPARTAN II’s, anyway.

Lol.
So in other words, its there to frustrate people who play properly?
And it’s not even just the concept of armor lock, it’s the fact someone could use it, walk a few feet, use it again, and spam it over and over and over before it eventually depleted.
Seriously had a fight where a guy used it like 3x before I finally managed to kill him.

If you played “properly,” you would have killed him the first time. It’s been done. Often.
