Put disc in limited collectors edition

I was so disappointed to read today that the $250 edition is coming with a game download instead of a physical copy. I was really looking forward to that edition but I guess I’ll have to settle for the regular edition :frowning:

EDIT (7/17/2015): I’m very happy to announce that we have done it, Halo collector community. In today’s community update, it was announced that players will be able to trade in the digital download code for a physical edition upon purchase of the LCE. I’m personally very satisfied with this option, because I much prefer the standard box over the steel case, and we can still get that AND the LCE. I’m very proud of and thankful for you all, for keeping this thread so alive for a month now. If it weren’t for you guys we wouldn’t be celebrating this victory now. Pop the champa-- er, Mountain Dew. We’ve done it. Thank you  <3

EDIT (7/14/2015): I just went to my local GameStop and downgraded to the Limited Edition. I highly highly encourage all of you angered by this decision to follow suit. For each of you that downgrades, 343 is losing $150 that they would have gotten had you not downgraded. Please help financially show 343 that this was a mindless mistake and that they should never make it again. Thanks again for keeping the support here high for almost a month. #CollectorsWantPhyscial #HuntTheDisc

EDIT (7/10/2015): Again, thank you all for your continued support to this issue. This thread has stayed alive for almost a month now and I couldn’t be prouder of everyone that helped us make our voice heard. HaloFollower member (and active member in this thread) Frozensword14 has recently posted an article on the HaloFollower website with an update from Frankie about the discless issue. The decision to include a digital copy was made as a compromise so that the Limited Collector’s Edition could be in stock on Day One. Because of the statue, they need to ship the game early, and it would’ve certainly gotten into store’s hands before the release date came. They expected backlash, but not as much as we’ve been giving. Thank you all for continuing to voice your opinions with the hashtags #CollectorsWantPhysical, #HuntTheDisc, and other taglines you’ve thought of. Please continue to do so. They’re still exploring options, but we will keep this fire burning until we are given what we demand! Keep fighting, Spartans!

EDIT (6/18/2015): First, I’d like to thank all of you for helping this thread reach the most popular threads. I’d also like to give a special shoutout to Frozensword14 from Halo Follower, who posted an article about this issue and kindly noted our forum post. I was rubbing two sticks together by posting this, but he really provided the lighter in starting this metaphorical fire by exposing this decision by 343 to the Halo Follower community, the largest Halo outlet on the internet. Together we have come this far and we are definitely getting somewhere to resolving this issue. We need to make sure we are still talking about this problem into the coming months. Keep posting your opinions on the forums and continue to tweet with the hashtags #CollectorsWantPhysical and #HuntTheDisc. Let’s not stop here. Let 343 hear our voices. Thank you again for helping grow this…movement, I suppose, to what it’s become.

I live in Australia with HORRIBLE internet, I don’t want to buy the game day one then wait 3 days to download it which is probably half of my monthly usage. When I buy games from a store I do it because I want the physical games (disc and case), if I wanted something digital then Id buy it from xbox live.
Besides Why does it include a steelbook case but with no disc to put it in?

Its so awkward for collections to have a bunch of cool swag for a game but not the game itself…

Where has it said this!?! Show me link. I need details. All of them!!!

For me the limited collectors edition is a bit of a rip off. I bought the Reach Collectors, never again.

"A premium edition of Halo 5: Guardians for collectors and Halo fans alike. The Limited Collector’s Edition is the ultimate expression of Halo 5: Guardians with a commemorative statue designed by 343 Industries.2 The Master Chief and Spartan Locke appear as a team – but there’s another story… the statue splits and they separate, ready to face-off. Which scene tells the true story? The Limited Collector’s Edition contains a full game download and the following Limited Edition content:

  • Warzone REQ Bundle: 14 Premium Requisition packs
  • Halo: The Fall of Reach – Animated Series
  • Guardian model by Metal Earth®
  • Uniquely-designed Spartan themed SteelBook®
  • Spartan Locke’s Classified Orders
  • Dossiers on Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris
  • Xbox Live Gold 14-day Trial1 - perfect for playing with friends"

Glad I’m not getting the limited collectors edition then. No way am I downloading what is probably a 30GB game.

Collectors want physical copies. They’re the starts to our collections. Taking the disc out of the edition is taking the Collector’s out of Limited Collector’s Edition. And we already have a Limited Edition so…

Time to downgrade to the LE instead of the LCE. I guess that will at least save me some money.

No physical copy in a collectors edition box? What? That must be a joke.

WE WANT DISCS!

Yea I’m not sure why they decided not to put a disc in the Collector’s edition. Most people who buy the collector editions of games want physical copies of what they’re getting and I certainly don’t think that’s too much to ask considering it’s $250.

It’s bizarre that they wouldn’t include the disc, but then everything else the Limited Edition has. Because basically your paying an extra $150 for just an additional statue and slightly less physical content. :\

…any chance this is just a typo, you guys think?

A typo? I’m praying to the Guardians it’s a typo. This is the difference between me getting the LCE or not.

I’m pretty sure its not a typo. That’s how the industry is now. Look at what bungie is doing with destiny ( at the request of Activision of course).

But the LE comes with a disc. It doesn’t make any sense

I would wager that it’s a typo. Why would they have a steelcase without the disc inside? It literally makes no sense. I would assume that it has everything in the Limited Edition - including the disc - plus the additional stuff. That is what it says on the website here at Waypoint. Maybe the game download is full extra content and such?

We need an unboxing…

People jump too quickly to conclusions… It’s either a typo, or like the other person said… It probably has everything, PLUS download. Remember, downloads are linked to your account… It would be pretty useful to be able to install a game no matter where you are, even if no game is present. There hasn’t been anything too official besides “some info” posted. Everyone needs to chill, give time for something official about the details, not speculation. They never said it DIDN’T have a physical disc… Nor did they say it was the soul way of playing the game through that edition.

Posted on another topic there, popping this here for exposure:
Ok here we go, this clears everything up nicely
A tweet just there from Rob Semsey - Senior Communications Manager

> LE releases on 10/27, comes with disc. LCE ships prior to 10/27, comes with code for digital download to pre-install
