Pursuit of Perfection

I have, I think, 6 more to go (don’t think it will happen, though).
I was curious about other players who are going for or already have the commendation. What’s your play style or strategy? Weapons of choice? What playlist do you play in?
Thanks for your stories!

I need three more.

I’ve been picking them up in BTB and Heavies with the Scorpion or Mantis. I use Operator and Survivor, and play somewhat defensively. You have to be aggressive enough to get to the 15 kill level, but not so much that you over-extend and get swamped. (Of course, it drives me insane when someone beats me to it and drives straight to the middle of the map only to die with one or two kills, or I get it first and someone insists on betraying me.)

It helps to have friends with mic watching your back, but not a requirement. I almost got one the other day using a Ghost. I was a half-second late getting the Mantis on Meltdown, but went back and got a Ghost and provided cover to the Mantis. I got to 12 kills I think, before I got hit by FRG fire, and couldn’t get away.

I know I got one in the Mantis on Vortex, without really realizing it until the Running Riot medal popped.
I feel the same way about losing the Mantis to those people (been betrayed a number of times for the same reason). Slow and steady in the Mantis is the best strategy - usually stake out a spot and let them come to me.
Thanks for your post!

I got the most in team doubles.you might give it a try

BTB, Heavies and Doubles are the ones I most often get them. And sometimes in 4v4 slayer.
I don’t have much tips, but less running straight into action, very careful playing, if a bad situation comes be sure to have an escape route if you can’t kill them. Sometimes it’s all about luck if you get them.

I’ve only gotten one but been pretty close, I started by grabbing the bandshee on ragnarok heavy and using operato+survivor the banshee can actually take a hit from a tank and still keep on going with the operator. After getting some easy kills with the banshee it exploded and I got ejected.then I ran back to base and pulled the sniper, then proceeded to snipe people from turret the rest of the game

As someone who has earned literally hundreds of perfections across Halo 3, Reach, and 4 I have only ever gotten a perfection 2 times that I can recall with vehicles and both times were not intentional.

My standard of getting perfections is simply using a BR or DMR, doesn’t matter if it’s BTB, team slayer, or lone wolves. I’ll find a way to get 15+ kills and stay alive all match.

I guess my trick is I never panic, infact more times than not I don’t even think about the perfection and just play normally. I also never hide if I get more than 15 kills, I simply just keep going. Most players freak out once they hit 15 then get all shaky with their aim or start to make flaky moves because they are so worried about getting a perfection or losing one it makes them play worse. It’s all about being mentally calm with perfections more than getting 15 kills without dying, that is the easy part. On average I’ve found every 2 weeks I get at least 1 or 2 perfections if I play Halo on a regular basis. My best record was 3 perfection matches in a row in halo 3.I guess runner ups woud be the nights I get on and I would get one in my first match.

Once you master the art of what a perfection is and how to deal with them they just keep on coming. It’s hard to get out of that mental state about worrying about losing a perfection but if you can put it aside and play like you don’t even know what a perfection is you will be golden.

Get the Banshee on Exile. I have earned every one of my perfections with that combo, and I have never cared about getting perfections. Just play defensive and always have control on the spartan laser spawns (and if you play Heavies always be aware of the gauss hog). Most of my higher spree medals, including the unfrigginbelievable, came from being the Banshee pilot on Exile. Just don´t be to greedy for those multikills and be careful of not going to low (to avoid skyjack and emp attacks).

I have found that it is much easier to get the first banshee if you are in blue team. So just have sprint enabled and run directly to the banshee and always get to your own base first to avoid the sniper and rail gun. Use the hills to camp with the banshee and get a grip of whats happening and just don´t fly right into battle. The Banshee is build with paper so a dedicated team will destroy you in seconds. But if you are doing some planned attacks and then get the hell out it is quite easy to stay alive the entire game.
