Seeing as how the flood are in a way deformed precursors (because of the powder and all) do we finally have an idea of what the precursors themselves looked like? I could see the tank pure form being precursor. Or was there some other explanation to pure forms that I missed?
The Precursors are infinite and eternal. There is no definite image you can use to represent them.

This. I believe they’re said to be even older than the cosmos itself, and they’ve evolved into a plethora of forms/species on billions of worlds. I don’t think there’s a definitive physical form for the Precursors. It’s clear that they’re not just a single species.
I’m sure they looked like something.

Do you have a source saying they evolved into different species? And even if they are different species there are different versions of pure forms. These could be the species of precursors that the forerunners defeated at path kethona

Forthencho’s monologue to the librarian in silentium.
*The flood arouse from the powder the precursors shed to regenerate becoming defective with time.

By that logic then, the pure form flood could look close to what the last form of precursors looked like. Which was my original question before we got off topic
No, not at all. The Flood Pure form, or rather a Gravemind or Keymind would be considered what a Precursor looks like because the Flood themselves are their most recent version of themselves, with the Graveminds having speaking capabilities along with intelligent thought.
So, the answer to your question is that the Graveminds are the most classifiable as what a Precursor looks like because they seem to be the main citizens of the Flood.
Sure, a Pure Form could look like one of there past forms, but chances are that they don’t as once the Flood became defective and focused their efforts on eradicating Forerunners, they lost all focus on their previous reason for why they turned into the Flood.

I was referring to the time before the flood. The other guy was saying the precursors were many different species before becoming the flood.

The graveminds may have the personality of the precursor, but as for looks the are a conglomerate of different flood hosts. I doubt the precursors were like that or 100s of feet tall.
I see it like this.
It has been said that the Precursors have changed form multiple times so the flood is just their latest form. It was just under very unuseral circumstances.
So I think the flood as a whole is what precursors look like now. there is no longer any individual form or intelligence. The words Flood and Precursor are one in the same.
Sorry to OT your original post.
precursor [prɪˈkɜːsə]
n
- a person or thing that precedes and shows or announces someone or something to come; harbinger
- a predecessor or forerunner
- (Chemistry) a chemical substance that gives rise to another more important substance
I don’t think Precursors were necessarily always a physical form. I assume they evolved over millions of years in their own universe. Could have started out life as a single cell organism, divided … by now they will be any form, in any state (gas, liquid, solid, dark matter)
The Graveminds (and by extension, Key Minds) are probably the closest representation of what the Precursors looked like before powder-ising themselves.
The Pure Forms (the massive-hulking-bullet sponge type, and the gangly-machine-gun-ranged type) are probably just creations of the Flood that are suited for combat situations.
