I love when I get assassinated by the person I am LOOKING AT, though!

I think bans for ‘disconnecting’ from BTB should be removed - I got banned twice because of current glitchy servers kept disconnecting me, or got stuck in a loop of ‘cannot connect to fireteam’ and reconnecting until I had to either alt+f4 or disconnect network connection to break the loop.
Also, any information on how long will the ban last would be awesome. You can’t even do academy when you are banned…
Main problem here is that bots don’t generally help at all in this game. Join in progress doesn’t really do much either. Being down a teammate for 10-30 seconds already makes a huge impact on the game because of the small number of players per team. Big team Battle it might not match as much though, since you have a larger player pool to work with, and being down a player in that isn’t nearly as noticeable as it is in 4 vs 4. In most cases, you might as well jsut forfeit the match instead of waiting for another player to join. Now imagine if people did that every single game if allowed to leave freely. You’d probably get 30 seconds to 1 minute matches that decide the entire out come of a match just because someone left early.
Not to mention, most people don’t want to be forced into a losing fight that they’ll probably have little to no impact in changing either. Here’s a good example of where people get forced into a match, saw what was happening and instantly noped right on back out of the match:

Interesting enough, I was actually one of those people who was forced into this match, but didn’t leave. Because I at least care about the other people playing the match. They would have been stuck with two bots if I had left too.
I still stand by and say yes it’s very much a necessary evil.
In my experience most teammates suck anyways so I would welcome and rather have a bot. I just would never force someone to stay in a game they are unhappy with, and even in your scenario all your teammates quit, yoy are now FORCED to finish a game you admit is now not enjoyable… how is that a good thing? Think about that. If someone spent $60 on a game and only wants to play one specific map, why should they be forced to play maps they don’t want to play on? This is 2022 and this mindset should be unacceptable.
Some of my favorite intense moments are when teammates quit and we still beat the other team while outnumbered.
Then you finally get the map you want to play only for other people abandon it ( probably because it’s not the map they want to play ) and you still don’t get to enjoy the map. This is a problem for team oriented games, but the only way for them to actually functionally work and be fun for everyone is that everyone acts as a team player, sportsman ship and what not. Sometimes it cannot be helped, this is why it became a necessary evil to begin with.
There needs to be a BIG punishment for quitting, but firstly, 343 must fix the constant crashes, i crash a lot and i can’t play this game
Or, imagine if we made the game better. Imagine if there was a superior system. I wish a company would develop a better one… Imagine… if only…
Oh… If only a company did this over 20 years ago. And Imagine if this company did it on a HALO game! That’s right! Halo PC allowed me to play EXACTLY what I wanted to play EVERY time I wanted to! Amazing!
The original Halo PC didn’t have a matchmaker last I checked. It used a server browser list, which operates a lot differently then a matchmaker.
The leaver penalties also existed in the Halo franchise since Halo 2 on the Xbox. The first console version of the game to have online. It didn’t use server browsers though, it used a matchmaker just like infinite.
I believe I recall them actually disabling the banning feature in either 4 or 5, and back peddled almost immediately due to an out cry of people requesting them putting it back because of how frequently game abandoners wrecked matches left and right.
First of all: those had no JIP, so there if someone quit, you would be left teammates short. Now with JIP and bost, you will keep the same amount of teammates. That problem is already solved.
Second: in MCC people were complaining about quitters because it left them with an incomplete team. But when they made the punishments harsher, it didn’t help, People still kept facing quitters, only now with way more AFK’ers and griefers. And that is for 4 reasons:
- Due to crashes a lot of people got temp. bans for not doing anything wrong, so they left the game or played significantly less.
- People who don’t like to play that match, still don’t like to play. So if they don’t quit, they will only go AFK, because they still don’t want to play that match. Quitbans don’t make people play.
- People were exploiting the quitbans, by making an altaccount and just grief others. Either by AFK’ing or by trying to get others booted (by making them angry so they would betray, or by deliberately jumping on their grenades or jumping in front of vehicles or power weapons that were fired
- In ranked people were deliberately trying to get friends with altaccounts to match against them, so they could easily rank up, since that friend on an altaccount would throw the match to them (either by griefing the enemy or by giving away free kills).
Quitbans just don’t work. Especially with JIP now finaly in place, there is no need for quitbans in socials. It is much better to replace someone who either doesn’t want to play that match or is completely outskilled by another player.
Saying that quitters and JIP will lose you a match is also not true. Most of the time you have a quitter when you are already losing (most of the time it’s just people who were only giving away kills to start with, because they were outskilled). And enough times i have had that the new player was making the match much closer, or won that match. And i also have had that i was the JIP that turned the match around. So a quitter doesn’t make you weaker per se, enough times it makes your team stronger, since it’s often weak players who leave and the replacement is often stronger then the quitter.
I have crashed sometimes but not often…
it seems the old problem from the halo 3 and halo reach time’s are back again it seems.
i think that there most add when the game is fix good and the crash’s are low also that the JIP system most been add also again what there have done in halo 4 and halo 5.
sure there are people not going to become happy again since there was back then also some hate about the JIP system but it has showing in halo 4 and halo 5 that it has fix the quitting problem from the halo 3 and halo reach time’s so i am for that the JIP system come’s back to fix for the quitting problem.
You over estimate what JiP actually can do for a game, as well as don’t grasp how big of an impact a quitter has on a low player count match. They impact in 4 vs 4 matches far worse then they are in 16 vs 16 matches ( or even less impactful if you want to get into Battlefield numbers ). After about 10-30 seconds the match might as well be considered not salvageable.
On top of things, JiP is in upon itself a “punishment”. You’re forcing someone into a match to fill in for the person who quit. Most people generally don’t like this, which is why these situations turn into a revolving door situation where people get in, see that they’re screwed, go “nope” right on out of there almost instantly themselves:

I’m actually rather glad this game lists everyone that was apart of the match. I was actually one of those people forced into this match, and stayed because I have at least some decency towards my teammates, other wise they’d have two bots on their team. These are actually very frequent too once someone decides the match isn’t good enough for them.
Most people that quit I don’t believe left because of technically issues either. People like dropping matches on a dime in just about every game I play now-a-days. This game at least ensure that if they do it too much, I’ll have a nice little break where I won’t have to deal with them for a good amount of time at least.
This is also why I advocate a lot about forming teams before starting matches. You don’t have to be trying to win either, you just ensure yourself reliable teammates you can actually have fun with instead of getting stuffed with trash.
I personally hate JiP - usually, you join into losing team already being a lot behind, having less time in the match after waiting for connection just as long as for a full match, plus often getting up to speed with the team - learning who behaves how, and who actually can play the objective, and who just runs around slaying takes time, which you have less because you joined in the middle of the game. I’ve never quit such a game because I like challenges, plus I think it’s quite a sh*tty thing to do for other players on the team, but often it’s much less fun than playing the match from the beginning.
I believe banning for quitting too often should be a thing, however quitting one match shouldn’t cause a ban IMHO, especially since people can have connection issues and such.
One mode that should temporarily remove bans for ‘quitting’ should be BTB because of current issues with server connections, which aren’t players fault, but the system believes it’s players who disconnected. Also in normal BTB with full 12 vs 12 stacks of players 1 or 2 quitting midgame usually won’t heavily sway the battle in contrast to 4 vs 4 where losing 1 player is a big deal.
Also, I’m not sure if it’s actually doable in a technical sense, but I think AFKing should be somehow penalized because it’s just as bad as quitting, or even worse because you don’t even get a bot or a chance for someone to join. I have no idea though how it could be reliably detected by the system.
