PUNISH the QUITTERS!!

Maybe there already is a thread like this in the forum, but in my opinion there can’t be enough!

Seriously! PUNISH THE QUITTERS! It’s such a shame that this issue still exists since Reach clearly showed what happens if the punishment for quitting isn’t severe enough (especially when it comes to Big Team)!

Subtract -5% of Exp if quitting, and/or prevent players from rejoining for 24h on each offense! I don’t care! BUT DO SOMETHING!
… I know there is the argument of the internet disconnect, but I’d bet my life that most quitters don’t even hesitate to just press start and select “Leave Game” because it’s faster than to get up and pull the cable! And about those guys loosing the connection all the time… well, sorry but get a better ISP!

My solution:

  • You track that someone selects “Leave Game”
= -5% Exp and banned for 24 hours!

  • You track that someone loses the connection for the first time
    = Warning!

  • You track that someone loses the connection for the second time within the next hour
    = Banned for 24 hours!

It’s that simple! Do it and people will stop quitting!!

343 won’t do this because they added the join cod in progress. that was their solution. so instead of punishing the quitters, 343 chose to punish the people who get lodged into the game the people getting crushed quit from with a quick loss.

I know exactly what you mean.

id change it for no exp for 24-48 hours, a 24 ban would just make Halo lose players.
i dont even get the point of quitters.

Unfortunately it seems to count as a quit on Halo Waypoint if you leave the lobby between games. So if they used the same data in order to punish “quitters”, you’d have a lot of false positives…

“Sure are a lot of quitters in Halo 4!”
“Good thing we added join in progress!”
343 laughs all the way to the bank

After 24 hours there will be almost no one left playing halo 4 they will all have gone to other games because they are banned!!!

they already do get punished they wont get any xp for quitting.

there will never be perfect system or quitters but think what they have done is a good step in right direction at least giving us chance if some one quits someone can join and take their place

Rejoining active matches is the worst!!! And like you said usually the people the are forced to join games in progress due to quitters are the ones punished!
It’s so fair to join a CTF game on the side with 2 people loosing 3 to 1 or to join a Slayer game on the team being 15 kills behind, isn’t it?
But the source of this problem is the quitting! So again… something needs to be done!

A lot of people quit… To go play Black ops.

na… I don’t think they should do that… because let the player play spartan ops or whatever. I don’t care what they play as long as I don’t encounter them in an online match!

Only guessing but think lot of the quitters will be kids (who probably shouldn’t even be playing a mature game) who dont like loseing so whine and give up and go and wreck another game

Ok, didn’t know that… of course I didn’t quit so far.
Maybe it is a “step” into the right direction, but obviously it’s not enough!! People are still quitting so some stronger measures will have to be implemented! Don’t you agree?

Take the punishment into your own hands.Avoid them for quitting early. (It is a reason you can pick when avoiding a player)

If everyone does this, quitters won’t get into a match and their rep will go down.

Well, this would work if the feedback system on XBL actually functioned properly anyway…

Sometimes people have good reason to leave. I know if I myself suspect that people are using questionable methods (such as modding, aimbot, etc.) or just plain griefing, I will leave. Even if I were to be subjected to a 24 hour matchmaking ban I would leave. Do you know why? Because I refuse to play with a cheater. I see no reason why I should entertain someone who feels that cheating is acceptable in a competitive matchmaking environment. As long as it appears that everyone is playing legit, I stay to the end though, unless internet goes down, or there is an emergency that requires my attention. (Lets face it, sometimes an idiot drives into a phone pole and you have to wait for repair crews, no one really has control over that.) There are likely a lot of people out there who feel the same way, and the best way to ensure that they stay in the game is to make sure that you aren’t being one of the cheating scumbags that everyone hates.

I can understand your point about cheaters… this is a very frustrating issue by itself, but still… stay in the game hide in a base pop up your xbox menu and make an official complaint about the player that’s cheating! just grab a drink wait till the timer is up, maybe take a look at your commencations. The cheater can’t kill you and your ratio stays the way it is… if he is not one of the aimbot/sniper cheaters but one of those that have extra shielding and he comes at you, than just run away!
In my experience cheaters are exposed and punished pretty fast and pretty hard as long as more than 3 players file a complaint about tempering!

banning someone for a day over a quit is stupid grow up

I quit my first Swat matchmaking match the other day because my k/d was getting raped, does that make me a quitter? :stuck_out_tongue:

I won’t be back into there again though! :frowning: This is why I want a social play list, because I fear if I try new stuff my k/d will upset me.

> banning someone for a day over a quit is stupid grow up

what do you suggest? banning for 48 hours or even a week?
no problem there! if that’s what getting rid of the quitters means, they shall have it!
… grow up  judging from this immature attempt of insulting me, my guess is I am at least twice as old as you and you should legally not even play this game!

I really dont think 24 hours is a good idea unless you really want to kill the population that halo 4 has.I have lagged out of games for no reason at all and you say I should get a 24 hour ban for that? haha yeah right, good luck with that!

> I quit my first Swat matchmaking match the other day because my k/d was getting raped, does that make me a quitter? :stuck_out_tongue:

 yeah that makes you a quitter! being banned for 24h and losing 5% Exp would have been the appropriate penalty. Quitting because of ones ratio might be a reason, but let me tell you A VERY DISGUSTING ONE!
How legit is this? How honest is this? How true of a representation of your skills is this? If someone is better, you gotta accept it but still try your best! Do you get some free drinks anywhere for your nice ratio? What does this do to your ego? Do you need it to qualify for some hardcore clan that wants to enter the next tournament?

C’mon guys, play what you can and learn to accept defeat. If I’d quit every game the opponents are better and/or my team suck for that matter, I’d probably have a ratio of 1.55 or something, but I don’t give a yoink! because I know my true skills, and so should you… at least if you are not a child!
The game should be fun above all and quitters are not funny! “Good” opponents - or probably most of the time - people that utilize additional gaming equipment (mouse/XIM, etc.) are also not funny to play against… but you gotta stay above them knowing that on fair grounds (pad vs pad and one on one) you’d beat the hell out of them anytime.
