Can anyone explain their usefulness to me? i.e. frag grenades have a short fuse and plasmas stick, but what is the advantage of using pulse grenades over the other two? they seem like total garbage to me but I haven’t tried using them too extensively.
I usually throw them infront of ghosts that try to splatter me. They don’t expect it.

The biggest advantage that I’ve seen is the fact that it has two explosions, a small bit of area denial, and explodes on contact with map geometry.
Well, they give a player the ability to control a certain objective quite well, considering they know how to use it. If placed correctly and with the correct timing, the first pulse of the grenade can instantly bring down a player’s shields, making for an easy kill.
They can also aid in escapes when needed. Or, you can hold off a group of enemy players (again, considering you know how to use it) while you wait for some back-up from your team.
It’s a strange addition to the sandbox, but it is very much welcome.
I…I don’t even with pulse…
They blow my mind to be honest, in a bad way.
(though i heard rumors that they’re good against vehicals, is this true?)
Hitting someone directly to them will break there shields instantly making it the safest grenade to run up, nade’ and use your weapon/melee.
You can also use the AoE effect to make enemy players be on a shield disadvantage, whoever is in the AoE can easily die with a BR. It is also not used to grenade spam like frags or plasma grenade.
To help use the “Explosives” support upgrade.
I disagree with the fact of having one per stock though.
I always use them on king of the hill. They are good for blocking off entry points and taking down shields when people are sitting/crouching in the hill. If they walk into it right when it explodes it will usually kill them.

They are decent against vehicles who attempt to splatter you! If a ghost or a mongoose are coming your way and you throw it down in front of you, the first charge or explosion will lift them off of the ground, it’s actually quite humorous.
As my primary grenade, yes, I can explain how they work.
- Two explosions. First when it activates, damaging 95% of the player’s health IF they’re on top of it. Second explosion which will kill IF player is on top of it.
- Slowly drains shields while active and player is inside of it.
- Great area of denial.
These do sound minor, yes, but when used in the right situations, they’re amazing. No, these aren’t your throw-until-someone-is-dead, or stickies. They are great for one thing: Area of Denial. Hold down choke points. Throw it at a door knowing someone’s about to go through it, and see how awful their day ends up. Throw it inside the Hill in King of the Hill or the Dominion Capture in Dominion, and see how merry they’ll be. See how chasy the chaser is when you slow him/her down.
However, the grenade doing damage by itslef won’t do so well unless it’s right on top of them, but it works great if you finish the damage/kill.
If these still sound minor to you, then the Pulse Grenades are not the grenades for you.
Also note you only get 1 when you spawn unlike the traditional 2.
I think it’s the worst grenade out of the bunch… so spawning with one doesn’t make much sense to me.
One of their biggest advantages is that, players don’t expect them. So many players underestimate them that when they’re trapped by one, they freeze. Pulse grenades are completely new and so most players are uncertain when they use them, but chuck one in any player’s path and they will have a bad day.
Also very good at slowing and damaging vehicles, I have turned many warthogs into dust with them.
But will they replace frags and stickies? Nope, but they are just as good.

The fact that you spawn with 1, while you spawn with 2 plasma or frag grenades which are easier to use and seem to be more effective all around, in the little time I have used them anyways. All but in which they deny enemy access for a short duration.
Does the explosive perk have any effect visually on thus grenade by the way?
Sticky - beats everything. other grenade types suck.

The kid who says stickies are superior.
