In my quest for Warrior Matrix, I have made a startling discovery. I have come to know the Pulse Grenade as a terrifying murder weapon capable of turning the most hardened opponents into ashes in the blink of an eye.
Everyone seems to think that Pulse Grenades are meant for blocking off hallways, or are meant to buy you time to escape and live to fight another day. You’re all wrong. These grenades are potent tools of destruction. Let me explain. You’re on Haven, and you have your trusty automatic weapon of choice. You get the jump on someone as they round the corner and pop his shields. You then proceed to plop a Pulse Grenade at his legs and watch him drop like a sack of potatoes. And after you’ve run fresh out, you may simply run to the bottom of the map and pick up more. No one else does.
Now if you’re playing on any map other than Haven, I would suggest using Grenadier so that you may have an extra one handy. Or find more somewhere. I don’t know where they spawn, so don’t ask me.
You don’t have to be spot-on with your aim, either. cough cough stickies cough
As long as their shields are gone, if they get caught inside the orange kill-ball, they die. Instantly. And if you’re smart, you’re also using Explosives. That way, the blast radius increases and you don’t necessarily need to completely drain a shield to net a kill.
I have found myself getting between 6 and 15 Pulse Grenade kills in Oddball or KotH games on Multi-Team. I hope this post has reassured you that it IS possible to get many kills with this under-appreciated weapon.
Edit: Un-shielded Spartans will only insta-die upon initial grenade explosion or collapse. I’ve also noticed that the ball will last longer if there is a Spartan inside it.
