This grenade is practically armor lock if you think about it. Imagine you’re low on shields, you’re in a hallway and you turn the corner to recharge your shields while the guy behind you is chasing you. You turn the corner and drop a Pulse Grenade at your feet and their is now a mini kill ball blocking you from him allowing you to escape. And NO, the person would not be stupid enough to walk through it, before you go and say such a thing. The combat WILL stop and will now be the “Get out of jail free card” in Halo 4. Unless it’s nerfed of course, which is what this thread is for.
Assuming it was a straight corridor, shooting for a headshot would still be possible. If it was the end of a corridor, then sprint/thruster pack would suffice just as well. Obviously the situation you’re talking about will exist, but not very often.
The problem with armour lock was that it stopped combat for a few seconds regardless of situation. This differs from the pulse grenade, as it’s made to restrict the enemy’s access (as opposed to stopping combat).
pulse grenade is no where near AL, it doesn’t make you invincible, it doesn’t EMP enemies and it doesn’t make you immobile, it is much closer to how the power drain worked in halo 3.
your excuse for why its like AL can be used on any grenade and is already a common tactic used with grenades to get the upper hand on a chaser so that you can take him down or force him to retreat, there is absoloutly nothing with this tactic because there is nothing game breaking or damaging to it, if anything it actually helps the gameplay by adding a little more strategical depth to player decisions.
the solution really is to not chase the person who is running simply because you’re almost always running into a trap.
Also, the grenade lasts only for few seconds, and you’re not invincible, even if you block out one person, you’re still shieldless and easy kill to his teammate.
Also, Armor Lock had unlimited uses, you don’t have infinite grenades.
Don’t overreact man, you can’t say you never did “Grenade traps” when taking cover behind a corner to buy few extra seconds so your shields will recharge.

I call bullcrap on this one.
If anyone manages to pull of what you’re describing, they deserve to survive. Hell, they deserve to win the match.
The shield drain had much greater range and didn’t work well as a path blocker.
