Pulse Carbine is truly the worst weapon in Halo history

There’s a lot of awful weapons in this game, I really wish they would just fix them and make them cooler and better.

Is this a joke? How are the disruptor or hydra bad? They’re two of the most useful utility weapons in the game, especially in BTB.

To be fair, with dual wielding a Plasma Pistol; the H2 Magnum S L A P S with a shield-break/headshot combo!

The problem with that is if you are going to fight someone at mid range with this and then switch to the BR you might as well just use the BR from the beginning considering how much AA the BR gets its on par with the plasma projectiles tracking and more consistent since the BR is almost hitscan.

And then there is the benefit that you can fight with the BR on any range, while with the Pulse Carbine if the enemy move closer the weapon becomes useless and you have to switch with takes time.

Having a weapon with who’s effectiveness is locked to a nice range in a game where the range of combat can change at an instant is incredibly stupid design. Even the Hydra understands this with its alternate firing mode. It makes the weapon not worth carrying for that one time is kind of useful when you can choose another weapon thats useful all the time.

I don’t see why there’s so much hate for this weapon. It’s my number choice in this bc it combos so well with almost every UNSC weapon. But here’s some tips I can share to get kills strictly with the Pulse Rifle alone.

Play BTB, and try and catch someone off guard.

The pulse rifle’s homing range is increased when zoomed in on someone. So if you can get the early jump on someone and from far enough away you can kill an enemy fairly easily with four shots.

And remember it’s an automatic weapon so just hold down the trigger.

I second this.

This is so cliché to say but, people really do need to just get better. I feel as though as if every weapon is useful and the balance is near perfect.

Sure not every weapon is strong on their on but, when used with the right combo they become almost super weapons.

Crazy part is, the community has already voiced how they hate that challenge, I hadn’t seen it in a while figured it was one that 343 had removed like they said they would with the less popular ones.

And now it’s back, like WTF 343 you know no one likes that thing. It’s nice in campaign but In Multiplayer it sucks

Normally double tapping with pulse carbine then switch to BR will allow you to defeat an opponent more quickly that is fighting you with a BR head on (They should only have time to shoot you 2 or 3 times before dying, and there also the fact that you can miss 1 or 2 shots with the BR vs 0 miss with pulse carbine (very useful for casuals)). The main advantage of using it over straight BR is mostly because it give an insane tracking on the target and is very effective against opponents with overshield

Another advantage about the weapon over straight BR is its availability. Mostly everyone in your team (especially in BTB) will go for the BRs, while the pulse carbine is always left at the weapon pad. While a Pulse Carbine / Pistole is aint as good as spamming range from the other side of the map with the BR, it still give you a pretty good 3 shot combo that will let you survive long enough

I disagree. Commando is much much worse.

I learned last night during weapon drills that the pulse carbine can kill in two burst. Granted those were headshots on stationary targets, but still gtfo.

I had a double kill with it once, don’t really know how it happened.

Pulse Carbine has very generous homing when Reticule is Red when hip firing, which is how I’ve been using it.

Versus most matchups, you still lose if they are deadshots, but against the average player, the homing + your strafes will win you the fight.

Carbine also has the combo of 1 burst + Sk 2 shot which pro players use frequently.

One more tip to using the Carbine:
It’s an auto trigger weapon, but fires in bursts. Your human error will actually make it fire slower than if you just held the trigger down. Since pulse carbine is a homing weapon, there is no recoil or bloom to worry about, making this the optimal way to use it, which beats even the AR in certain situations where the AR user is trying to range you beyond hip fire range.

I mean, I never have a hard time completing it. Its a spawn on like every map and as long as you play it right (or enough times) you’ll get your kills. In BTB I never have a problem.

I’ve been saying this since day 1. It deals absolutely no damage whatsoever. I physically cannot get a kill with it and have tried so many times. It needs a huge buff.

Have you not been reading? It does lots of damage. TO SHIELDS. It’s the challenge that’s terrible, not the weapon.

I don’t play BTB so maybe that explains it?

They reduced it from “Get 10 kills” to “Get 3 kills”. It seriously needs to be changed to “Do x damage”, or “Break shields with the pulse Carbine”.

Same reason we’ll still have killjoy challenges for Tenrai today.

You kind of answered your own question. And look, I’ll be the first to admit that the Pulse Carbine is better than I initially gave it credit for, but it has problems.

This is true, and also how I use it.

One of the main issues with the gun. If you have to sneak up on someone, just to get a better chance of killing them, then it’s not good. People don’t like how poorly it performs in a fair fight.

A 4-shot kill with this thing would be very slow (It overheat in 5 shots). It can kill in 2 if you can get the headshot multiplier, but the homing makes that very unreliable.

Yeah, it’s much better when I started doing this.

Personally, I’d rather the gun have two firing modes:

  1. A primary hipfire mode that fires single bolts of plasma. Full auto.
  2. A scoped secondary fire that does exactly what the pulse carbine is doing now.

This way, the gun isn’t completely worthless in cqc.

It is a terrible gun. If it exists to strip shields, it still isn’t as good as the disruptor or plasma pistol. My only advice is steal peoples kills at midrange. BTB works best for me.

Agree, a straw and saliva paper balls would do more damage
