Did anybody catch any pug sound effects in the game play trailer or demo? I didn’t notice any from the sound effects in either but low key, this is me hanging on to any hope that the Flood will be in Infinite haha.
Call me a doubter, but I have 0 expectation the flood is returning. If I had to guess they used the pug sound effects as the barks grunts will make, as they are the closest doglike foe.
It could also be the sounds of some animal on the ring

Zeta Halo is home to a number of Flood facilities that had a huge part in lore.

None of which seemed to have been apparent in the Campaign footage. The story they have been weaving from H4 to Infinite hasn’t really left much room for the flood to make a comeback. Perhaps it will be the biggest surprise of 2021, but so far I don’t really see how they can effectively include the flood without it being really out of place. Between the Banished, the Created, the Harbringer (new faction?), and the everything else, the flood would be easily stamped out.
Oh that? Thats for the new gun coming out, the Pug Launcher

Well why would they share surprises right from the start?

Considering the Flood basically ruined the plans and cohesion of the Fleet of Particular Justice just by merely breaching containment, I think you are vastly overestimating the power of the Banished, Created, and UNSC forces on the ring (I refuse to entertain the idea the Harbinger is anything other than the Created)-which certainly won’t stop killing eachother.
Considering Zeta is a hotbed of Flood experimentation, while I don’t disagree or agree with your point on them showing up or not, I’d happily wager whatever flood is on the ring won’t get easily squashed.
I think it’ll be a hunter

The flood were accidentally released on the Ark by the banished. Several missions later Atriox’s generals re-enabled the Ark’s defense system and personally saw to the destruction of the proto gravemind that began forming. The banished alone have already proved they are more than capable of handling the flood. Throw in a few guardians and the chief himself, I don’t see how the flood can be considered much of a threat with our current understanding of the Halo universe.

As an aside, the fact the Banished somehow won that outbreak is actually annoying to me, given our ‘current understanding of the Halo universe’. They somehow managed something even the ring’s sentinels couldn’t manage-even Chief couldn’t manage. Chief tore through High Charity’s flood twice, but he certainly didn’t hamper the actual infestation either time beyond knocking out the Gravemind when the reactors cooked off and 08 went off.
Like, without that burp in the universe, our current understanding would be ‘The flood are a big enough deal that a rapid and thorough glassing is the best way to deal with the problem-and even that doesn’t always work properly’.
I saw a video a while back that did show them making a pug “voice act” for the flood, plus this is a large game we can have a little flood
Gyoza the Pug made generic noises for anything in the game. It could be grunts, brutes, hunters, elites or even modified into a vehicle sound. We do not know.
Do not assume that just because a dog makes grunting sounds that the flood are confirmed to return.
Personally I think I hear it in the noises grunts make in the trailer but we can’t know for sure.

Call it the “SPUGNKR”.
