the maps that are created in Forge by users, can they be played by the general public, what I mean is will there be a section that all gamers maps are published in and you can pick to play them in matchmaking instead of the bungie created maps?I’d be interested in designing maps but dont really see the point if you cant share them with the community.
Yeah … I actually didn’t see your post, or I wouldn’t have put up my own. I was wondering the same thing! Is there any way to get players to play, and score your creation(s)? It does seem like waisted time, if you and your friends are the only people viewing/playing on them. (not a total waiste…but alot less rewarding!)
As of right now, there is no way to get your maps into Matchmaking.
However, somewhere down the line I’m sure Bungie will be implementing user created content, I mean, with Forge World, they’re basically asking you to fill in the gaps in the standard map selection for them.
Absolutely. All you have to do is upload these maps to your File Share via the File browser in the “Start” menu. Once it is in your file share, tag the file with any relevant keywords that you feel may help people find your map when they do searches. People can search for files of any type that have been uploaded to shares both through the game interface and bungie.net. Once it is in the file share anyone can download it, and then they can play it with all of their friends in custom games…if it’s popular then it may even spread to the masses.
However, if you’ve really perfected your map design, Bungie is indeed on the lookout out for community maps that would excell in matchmaking. We are not exactly sure when they will add the community maps into matchmaking rotations, but I bet it shouldn’t be terribly long.
The Bouk
Ok so now that the community slayer playlist is up, I’m guessing that’s as far as Bungie will be going as far as user created content on matchmaking. King of sad. I had the same idea. By I just noticed that when I upload an updated version of my map, all the ratings for it disappear (the thumbs up/like count). So sadly, I don’t think they will be doing anything of the sort for Halo Reach. I’m trying to start a community of sorts where all forgers can go and post links to their file share or at least leave their gamertag so other people can see their maps, and then add people to their friends list so there can be a lot more online custom games happening on a larger scale, instead of the occasional off-the-wall game on some crappy map made by a noob. If this sounds like a good idea, let me know. I created a post under the reach game section under forge, and I’m hoping I can grab some people’s attention.
