PSA: The Infamous God-Weapon of Halo Arguement
Transmission Start
Hello Waypoint, this is my second PSA for Halo, I hope your acquainted with my first PSA: The Current State of Halo Multiplayer. So, as many of you know (And many of you deny it) the Designated Noob Rifle, thats my new name for it, is just OP as hell. Now I hear this arguement from time to time: “All Halo’s have had a god-weapon”. Well, how does that change anything? Halo is a class-based shooter. The Loadout system WILL NOT WORK with a god-weapon in the game.
My point with this PSA is to hopefully get some people to realize that that old arguement is null with Halo 4 as a class-based shooter. It won’t work with a game like this. It just won’t. Have you noticed that when there was a bulletin where I think Bravo shared his best loadouts for the Majestic maps, have any of you noticed that ALL of his primaries was the DNR? Doesn’t that seem a little strange for small-medium maps while the DNR is more suited for large maps? Just look at the bullet magnetism in this video. Even the ROF could be toned down. And just look at the DNR campers on Complex, you can’t even go anywhere to try to take them on when they can practically see everything that goes on in the map. And all Complex is these days is a DNR camp-fest.
Want more examples on this? Look at Ragnorak, that map was fun for a lot of people in Halo 3, the BR was the go-to weapon but it had bullet travel time, you atleast had a chance to get to the top-middle and fight for control of it, now, in Halo 4, all you got on that map are DNR spammers, and apparently, the shots from the DNR are hitscan, so when they pull the trigger, you can’t dodge it like the BR in Halo 3. How is it that anyone can have fun when they can’t even move away from their base without getting the same treatment as the soldiers who stepped into No-Man’s Land during the Trench Warfare of WWI?
If it’s not OP, then why is it that 90% of the ENTIRE POPULATION IN HALO 4 seems to use the DNR solely because they’re taking advantage of it?
My solution to get the Loadout-System in Halo 4 to work correctly is to tone down the Bullet Magnetism on the DNR and/or reduce the ROF on it.
I hope you all understand what I’m getting at.

Is the DMR a god weapon? I’m not sure. But I do know I hate getting in a CQB against a DMR and I have an AR and losing. I just don’t know how some of these people are able to keep their targets spot on and seemingly never miss during a CQB.
Sigh…
For small to medium maps, I prefer a two primaries. BR and AR.
For long range maps, DMR.

I would prefer it that way, but right now, it just seems more like this, which is beyond frustrating:
Small: DNR
Medium Maps: DNR
Large Maps: DNR
And it seems like a God-weapon to me considering how EVERYONE uses the damn thing.

I’m calling it the Designated Noob Rifle now, hence DNR, I hope you know what I mean by that (Not calling all of us noobs, just the ones that take advantage of it and can’t even be bothered to try to atleast use a more skillful weapon like the LR)…

oh.
I use the LR almost all the time. it’s more fun, and it’s pretty useful.
That is some mental bullet magnetism right there! Holy -Yoink-!

Sounds more like Dinner to me, but whatever.
If you cant handle the DMR, you would not have been able to handle the 3sk cross mapping, fast as you can pull the trigger pistol from CE.
Guns are scary, perhaps some of you should go play Farmville, much less scary.
Hate to be that guy (no I don’t) but I think you mean Aim assist.

Ya kinda look silly using the wrong terms.
I like the carbine a lot, but since i have been trying for 2 months now to get my KD to 2.0, i have been playing BTB a lot, so using DMR a lot and its my most used weapon on MM now. Kinda feel ashamed for it, but as soon i achieve my goal, i am switching back to IS and to the loved carbine.
Hey, keep playing on complex.
Oh the dmr is fine, I can kill dmr people with br, so that makes it ok that the dmr has that much magnetism -_-/
I keep telling people you don’t have to aim with that gun. It’s magnetism, range, stopping power and kill time make it a god weapon. It’s single shot, so you are going to get all your damage in as long as you git a hitmarker lol. You can’t always enjoy other weapons when the dnr is around.
Aww, I thought this was going to be something interesting but it’s just yet another DMR thread.
Really though I just wish all of the starting weapons were balanced, I’d love to enjoy the others without being dominated by DMR users every game. Yeah, I use the DMR and I like it but I’d rather not use it all the time.
I agree with the OP implicitly, primarily because I made a few threads saying the bullet magnetism + aim assist was too damn high, and that the DMR was too damn good. For future Halo games, I’d prefer if it wasn’t there, as it nullifies the point of the BR, carbine and LR.
The DMR was superseded by the BR anyway, meaning it should be out of business. I think for gameplay purposes, it shouldn’t be there in Halo 5, Halo is about CQC-mid combat more than anything and a starter weapon like the DMR just isn’t on.
My favourite class is BR+AR combo, but I really feel like I’m doing myself a disservice by not using a DMR.
> It’s magnetism, range, stopping power and kill time make it a god weapon. I
Do you mean Aim assist? It has equal magnitsem as all other guns as stated in that Halo Council thread that I posted.
I’ve been using the LR a lot lately. To be honest I think it is more OP than the DMR. I think that the LR is not hit scan so it isn’t picked up very often.
Correct me if I am wrong about the LR hit scan.
The weapons in Halo 4 are fine. The only reason the DMR is dominant is because the BR and Carbine do a bad job at countering it at medium range. If you are losing with an AR against a DMR at close range, you are using the weapon incorrectly.
The DMR is a utility weapon, it is a jack of all trades, master of none. The lack of viable medium range counters to the DMR only makes it seem overpowered.
