Got it in one lol. There’s no other point to it other than trolling. 
Me and friends do it to each other but randoms are just being trolls. Just the opthe day someone betrayed me for the sniper rifle. I continued to make the rest of his match miserable till he left.

Alas it seems their disdain of Halo 5 has seeped into their gameplay. If I’m not happy then you can’t be happy mentality.
Or they are just certified grade A trolls who game just to troll.

LOL I enjoy transporting people on my tank, but just not when they stand on the -Yoink!- cannon.

This is very true. Though sometimes its fun to do so if the guy in the tank is team killing or trolling first
I don’t care if they jump on my tank that means I have more defense when I’m being boarded, but stand in the front the cannon I would get angry
I didn’t know it did that. I usually follow behind it anyway. Nice shield.
I sometimes stand on an ally’s tank, but I try to keep out of the way of the gun. It’s useful for transport and team-work, honestly. I love that you can stand on any vehicle in Halo 5, if you’re careful.
My favorite is when a teammate stands on the tank but doesn’t bother shooting the guy sneaking up behind to plant a grenade. Sometimes I just wait for it. Or on maps like ARC or Stormbreak, I’ll head for the nearest cliff:)
I’ll usually walk by the tank to provide support so tey can’t be boarded, I only mess with them if it’s a friend in the tank and we have a sizeable lead lol
To be honest, I just stand on it if there isn’t a free seat, and I stay off the cannon. Only in ff though.
Whenever people do it to me I just assume they aren’t aware it causes an issue.
But why you’d willingly stand on top of the biggest target on the battlefield is beyond my understanding. Even when I was new to video games when I was young ‘But what if I stood ON the tank???’ Never crossed my mind.

And knowing is half the battle.
I usually do to grab a ride seeing as it seems to be faster than on foot, but I always crouch on the tread covers
