PSA: MANTIS CAN CROUCH & SNEAK

I normally exclusively use higher Req small arms rather than vehicles, so trying out the now-lowered-Req Mantis for the first time led me to discover that it can crouch (same button as regular crouch) and sneak up on enemy flankers and Wasps pushing on our base. Try it out for adjusted tactics!

[EDIT] Learned it’s been around for a while. Had no idea!

Yeah pretty interesting mechanic. Although I think your using it wrong. It’s really supposed to be used to morally degrade your opponents. All you have to do is position yourself over them and then hit the button over and over (kidding of course). In all seriousness I don’t see much purpose to it as your still a giant mech, there’s not much you can do to disguise a giant mech.

The most use it has is the Mantis won’t vibrate controllers. I only use it in Mantis Breackout.

It’s a neat trick that allows you to fit through smaller spaces and surprise your foes as you emerge from nowhere.

But don’t rely on it; the slower moving speed leaves you very vulnerable to hijackers.

I don’t think it makes you vanish from motion sensors. I use it in FF to give more stability to the machine gun and duck behind things when Voldemort looks at me.

I don’t want to be THAT guy, but the Mantis could also crouch in Halo 4. It’s not really new news by any means.

It’s cool and can be useful, however. Back when Guillotine had a Mantis on it, I could go almost anywhere indoor on the map (including up to the sword room and over to the Rocket Launcher spawn) due to the crouching. It probably confuses at least a few people to see a Mantis walking around on the third floor of a building.

Yeah, I use it to get on the garage’s front porch.

They should make it where when you crouch in it you put a box over yourself.

So you don’t have to get out :stuck_out_tongue:

I was about to educate him on this myself lol.

Yeah, I saw a Mantis crouching earlier today and was completely bamboozled by it.

I was really surprised when at the first days of H5 everyone thought that Mantis-Crouch is a new thing while it was first implemented 3 years ago or something.

Well, the crouch is good for getting into smaller rooms, (armories, small openings, etc.)

Crouching doesn’t do very much, however it can fit you in tight locations.

i only use crouch if the mantis wont fit where i want it to

Been using the crouch with the Mantis since Halo 4 to T-bag.
