I just stumbled across a video where a guy got banned for using dead bodies to create a realistic war scene. (He tinted some of the terrain to simulate blood) and was kind of flabbergasted that the guy got banned for it.
I’m trying to understand the thought process here…
“Hey guys, let’s provide dead bodies as forge assets!”
“But wait…won’t that encourage people to construct realistic war scenes using dead bodies?”
“Nah…that won’t happen. And if it does, we can ban them.”
Yeah. I don’t think a ban for that is fair. I heard from Forge Lord that the safety team is using the ESRB guidelines to moderate content. Only issue with that is that online content isn’t rated by ESRB.
They shouldn’t be using t rated guidelines for the forge guidelines at all the only things that are reasonably bannable on maps is 18+ content, hate speech or stuff that causes seizures not **** like theunny grass that’s basically associated with gaming in someone’s room or a dead body that’s missing a head with a bit of red jelly underneath
Also fun fact someone tried saying that the bungie games weren’t this brutal as the map and used the head as a example on twitter and i responded with the mangled elite body
Than someone else came in and said to be fair he didn’t lose his head which i responded with a decapitated flood elite head from halo 3 and he said it didn’t count lol
Doesn’t matter if its not halo if they are going to do that in one game they better enforce the rules on others if they want to sell stuff on their platform
To be fair, the majority of 343’s trilogy in general has been a pretty big let down. So in all honesty, I really didn’t expect Halo: Infinite to suddenly turn that bad reputation around, but I was at least hoping this new game was gonna be a step in the right direction… For the last few months I’ve been thinking that Infinite is just another mistake that 343 will refuse to learn from. Here’s to hoping for Season 3 and then here’s to hoping for Season 4 and so on and so forth until Halo fans have exhausted every viable excuse before they finally break down and realize… that this is the best 343 is capable of coming up with…
That is such a shame… Banning players for simply using forge stuff as they are supposed to be used… SMH … glad I finished up all my available battle passes. I really did want to finish up season two since I regrettably paid for it. Uninstalling Infinite, not simply because of this as I don’t even forge, but this certainly doesn’t help. Going to concentrate on the superior Halo game MCC. Where all Halo players should be playing
CE also had a mangled marine body meant for that triage section at the start of “The Pillar of Autumn”, though that one was cut for being too “graphic” at the time.
This is only relevant because it worries me that they might start heavily banning any future workshop content that makes use of similar content for MCC, digsite or otherwise, as they’ve now set this as a precedent with Infinite.
There does have to be a degree of moderation for it still. Otherwise you’ll go onto the CGB and join a match full of NSFW stuff, or people recreating tragic events.
I agree. A full ban and map deletion was unnecessary. In the future, I’d rather they do something similar to what I’ve seen on the forums. The moderator sees the offending content, tells the creator, then the mod or creator can adjust or remove it, then both parties win.
I was wondering this, was there any warning given? Where are the rules specifically? Does it say any where you can’t simulate blood on a map? How does a forger know what is allowed and not allowed… Maybe just take the color red out of forge? It’s all pretty silly… Most seem to want Halo to be an adult military shooter and not a kid cartoon shooter… Hopefully now that 343 has some new leadership they can change the direction of the game, because it’s pretty clear the current direction isn’t what the majority of community wants.
Unfortunately, I don’t think there was (at least from what I’ve heard). If they didn’t, that’s a major step fall on their half.
I’d imagine it probably says something on either the Xbox code of conduct/community creations/content guidelines. But I think putting something more front and center would be good.
Having now seen some of it for myself, it wasn’t really just “blood on the ground”. There were impaled marines, and even one completely crushed by a gravity hammer. It certainly could be shocking to someone not expecting it.
Age of Mythology, another Microsoft title, has more blood and gore than the current version of Infinite. It too features an editor which could be used to make the game just as violent or mature, and graphically isn’t too far off from how that map looked.
it too is rated T for Teen.
It honestly tells me 343 either has a bloodgulch sized chasm between its moderation and developers, or utterly failed to evaluate how the content and features they themselves added could be used.
