This needs to be noted, spread and acted upon as it can truly help fix the aiming issues many are having (especially controller). Tested on PC.
Like many I thought most of the aiming issues on controller were tied to the game mechanics itself and needed some re-tooling. Having tried training and custom games (search how to enter one) I was forced to select a Local Server. I tried out the Disruptor and immediately fell in love with how the pistol felt, it felt more traditional to aim outside of its perks. I chalked it up to the weapon. Then I loaded one up with sidekick / sniper and immediately noticed a big difference from online PvP. I was flowing with my shot more akin to the classic Halo titles, no heavy aim, no oversteer, just sweeping and landing. Hit reg, AA, magnetism, all felt rewardingly tougher than old titles but just as silky (something I have NOT felt in either tech preview). The feel good aiming we are used to is in the game, but why does it not feel this way online?
This leaves two options imo:
Network issues with the servers are creating hit reg issues, lag, etc. that result in poor performance and aiming.
Customs have different levels of AA, aiming mechanics, etc. that haven’t been tweaked like the live title.
I hope it is option 1. The game feels FANTASTIC in local server customs, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and most of all feeling. We really need to get an answer from 343 on this. If the game is to feel like it does in customs offline we have a majorly special title on our hands. If not, make it feel that way, because it’s infinitely better.
Edit: HiddenXperia has mentioned bad hit reg and input lag online due to server issues. This is likely the discrepancy. Please submit a ticket for this specifically.

how does one join a custom game? i want in on this. invite me to one if you can.
So we can agree that the stress test was very successful in revealing that the online capabilities are atrocious and not nearly as polished and sufficient enough for launch.

I was both jumping for joy when I felt this, because it meant the game itself is so much better than I had thought the past few days, but also terrified this would go unfixed or acknowledged.

Yeah I’m with you on that. I really hope this is some online connection thingy crapping out and no underlying game mechanic problem. Have you reported your findings, i.e. sent a ticket?

Yes I have, ticket 207350 if anyone needs to add any findings to it. I sincerely hope some content creators or pros pick this up and elevate it. I can’t think of one thing more important than the feel of aiming in Halo and to think this find is very low key at the moment is worrisome. It’s one thing to criticize the aiming and want it re-shaped, but it’s another to find solid aiming is IN THE GAME and not being utilized.
My lord, it is night and day, you’re right. I sat here all weekend thinking this games aiming was atrocious and praying for a fix come launch. The fix is in the game now! Make it play like this 343. Please say a simple server fix can legitimately fix the aiming.
Well if this is true I need to figure out how to start a custom game and try this because yes the magnetism is horrid on controller. Just switched to mcc and wow what a difference!

this video explains how to do it on console. you do not need 2 players even though he claims you do. it worked for me solo. https://youtu.be/UMH9pEKASK0
I made a custom game, set it to local server to test it but, i didn’t notice a difference tbh. It felt exactly the same like in Multiplayer. Did i something wrong?

It’s possible it is a PC only issue. Are you on PC? I am and added to the first line of the OP to be clear.

Yea you weren’t playing against anyone I just made a whole thread about this because OP claimed it was so much better… now I’m starting to doubt it…

It’s most certainly better, but I can’t vouch for console if that is where you’re testing. I’m PC only atm and edited OP to reflect that.
