Who else remembers proximity voice from H3? I’d love to have it back in halo 5 guardians.

We’ll find out soon enough after this Beta happens. If it’s not in it, then definitely time to raise some noise here on the forums to get it going.
Yes. I like hearing 9-year-olds say, “Go under the bridge! I’m right behind you!” So, in the end, I jump onto the bridge and assassinate both of them, then spin around and shoot his friend while he’s saying, “I’ll avenge you. I’m gonna assassinate HIM!”
Ah, the good ol’ days…

This^ Lol…
Soooo… has this been confirmed for the beta yet? or are they just going to replace this awesome feature with the lame spartan callouts?
People need to start making topics asking for this. Proximity voice added so much to the game, you had to be smart and not scream out where you were if you were in an enemy base.
Yes!
Waste of resources. Parties are a thing now and people seldom use regular game chat anymore.
Halo 5 seriously needs Proximity Voice. It would be perfect for Warzone.
Necro post OUT OF NOWHERE.
Loved this back in Halo 2, made for some extremely funny and memorable moments. Definitely needs to come back.

I mean, June isn’t really what I would consider a necro…

I’m more surprised that it wasnt by a recruit.

4 months. I’ve seen necro locked posts fresher than that in the past.
Putting the awe from the locked or unlocked nature of this thread aside. . .
Proximity voice was not only well before its time, it worked well and added a lot to H2. It’d be nice to see at least an attempt to restore an excellent 11 year old feature. Prox voice is a benefit (when available) to using game chat. Party chat will likely always be favored, but game chat without any perks like prox voice will never stand a chance. It’d be nice to see developers encourage players to engage one another in a non-silent manner. It’d be cool if speaking to each other wasn’t considered taboo again.
I know it’s a scary world, and people have all types of different toned/pitched voices. I know saying words to and/or hearing them from others is an incredible risk for anybody to take… But maybe…just maybe it might not destroy lives. Maybe speaking to each other would be…good? Maybe muting people whom we find annoying would…mute them? I know this is a far-fetched theory; I’m just spitballing here.
I’m scared too . . . but I think we might be able to do this speaking to each other thing if we wore bullet proof vests and reminded ourselves that our ancestors (decade [or more]) used to intentionally talk to each other! Crazy!!! Maybe it would bring the world to an end… or maybe it would start conversations. Oh, the possibilities! It’s so darn frightening, but the possibilities…

Our ancestors were less prone to simply spouting homophobic, racist, misogynistic abuse down the microphone every 5 seconds when playing though. There are no conversations to be had 99% of the time

It started with halo 2, but yes it was awesome… h3 marked the death of the feature, because once party chat became a thing you couldn’t hear opponents anymore…
so, yeah even if they implemented it, we’ll never again relive the glory days.
I would like it in the game, but I’m not going to say I’ll be devastated if it isn’t.

I don’t feel like this was true. But it was amusing listening to a troll get frustrated because you were mature enough to not give a damn.
because more people spoke and uses mics you actually came across more mature players, on both teams. Proxy chat gave good sportsmanship a chance to flourish because you could interact with the opposing team on a human level.
Now I don’t care what the other team thinks because as far as I can experience, they are just polygons on a screen.
Also I have the NXE and it’s confirmed what I had suspected. You now have an option to quickly enter game chat without leaving the party. Now is the perfect time to lure people back in to the game on a personal level and not just a gaming one.
