PROXIMITY Talk as an option

The groups I belong to play a lot of customs. Proximity chat was a favoured feature.

I want proximity chat back in the next Halo title, as an option.

Proximity Chat is great.
Some of my best memories involve it.

I also like it because there have been many times when I’d be hiding from the enemy.
I’d see them on my motion sensor and hear them talking to each other in proximity chat.
I’d have to stop talking and quietly wait for them to pass.
All the while, my friends would be yelling my name because I wasn’t responding.

Ahh, memories.
Definitely miss Proximity Chat.

I’d like it back by default. You can set voice chat options to “party and team” or something like that already, that basically makes it optional.

I realize I am late to party on this one.

Last night I had a great game night with a bunch of friends playing some Halo 3. I don’t seem to remember it being this much fun to have proximity voice. Maybe because it was default and just didn’t notice it. Maybe because I was always quiet and was nervous to turn on my mic because I was a really bad player then.

Whatever the reason is, playing last night with friends was amazing! I was trashed talked, and did some of my own. I tried baiting people into an area when I had shotgun by taunting. I heard them get close and knew if they had a bead on me, or were still searching for my position.

Anyways it was so incredibly fun, this feature has to make a return. I even made a video about if you want to check it out.

343 this is a must have feature!

I’d love to see both Proximity Chat and Team/FFA Chat as configurable options. There are situations (e.g. cordial Infection games) where one would want everyone to hear everyone.

I love to see this return as well. Was great to yell friendly abuse and you know they hear it, but also great to give complements on well deserved kills.

It was always great hearing people when they hijacked you, and funnier their response if you hijacked them back. Adds much fun to the game, if it is kept a little clean.

Everybody uses XBOX party chat now. Those days are sadly over :frowning:

Have you tried party chat on the Xbox One, it sucks compared to the 360 Party Chat.

Yes, yes on proximity chat.

It is pretty glitchy, but people still use it. Nobody uses gamechat anymore, unless they’re alone… but then they’re really alone, because all the others are in party chat, lol.

That is why I say that certain playlist should have a no party chat restriction to be in that playlist. Doing that may reintroduce people to why it was such a great feature.

Now days, I actually use game chat a lot more. Only rarely do I use party chat anymore.

I suppose I am the exception to the rule.

It’s a definite yes from me.

Proximity chat should definitely be a part of Halo 5 MM.

I also think that it should be game chat only in the main ranked lists but this would be too risky for 343 to implement as they will see it as restricting choice.

They should do it though, if they have confidence that their product will draw in longtime dedicated players to the MM as this means that eventually people will get more out of the game. (Because they will be more focused on the halo they are playing and will meet other dedicated players of the game)

Party chat is OK for the social lists.
