I was playing some of the tech preview and was reminded of a game I use to play before it was sun downed “GITS: First Assault Online” it was a FSP FPS but that isn’t my point. This game had a neat feature that I feel would actually be pretty neat as an optional setting for custom games in Halo: Proximity Power-Ups.
What are Proximity Power-Ups?
They are power-ups that allow you to share your power-up with teammates, with the caveat being their version of it is toned down (nerfed).
Now how would this be implemented?
Simply in Custom Games Settings it can be applied to “applicable” power-ups e.g. Camo and Over shield.
This would make it so that teammates within your proximity (whatever settings are selected for range), would give teammates a lesser version of this ability with possible “player cap” to determine the max amount of teammates whom can take on the effect (this can be voluntary or involuntary, whichever works better for the game or both as an option).
So you could grab camo and then when ready activate it, once active it allows you to share the effect with your teammates (giving you an idea of how many teammates will get it). Once activated those teammates for example would get camo but perhaps it will be less “effective” in terms of transparency and perhaps be more sensitive to movement and will expire upon the death of the OG user or expiration of the OG sources power or if the player is away from the OG user for a set interval of time (shorter than the life of the actual effect).
This could also work with over shields giving a weaker over shield that decays faster (instead of lasting the entire time the OG user’s does).
What do you guys think of this? This could even be a special ability of the VIP and Alpha Zombie in terms of non-power ups.
