So right now, the ranks are mainly based off of post count. It has been observed that it’s not soley based off of post count, but mainly.
Here’s my idea. Instead of just posts, there are points. (before you say no, dont worry. it’s not as complicated as it sounds.)
Currenty, to rank to Reqruit Bronze, you need 101 posts. But with the new system, you would need 101 points.
Here is how points are earned:
1 Post: 1 point
1 Thank: 1 point
2 or more Thanks in one post: 2 points.

What happens if you lose a thanks?
Hmm… good point. I guess you get a point removed.
Eh. Honestly it’s way too easily manipulated. Some already complain about post counts being “boostable” by spamming the boards, thanks is even easier to spam.
What we’ve got now works pretty well, IMO.

But I just think this would be better because of the post spamming. It would seperate the real, quality members who post helpful things from the normal users.

Lol, I’ve seen the thanks feature used on posts that aren’t exactly helpful so it’s not really a better solution I don’t think.

Yeah, that’s true as well.
Easy way to get high rank = post that you hate the new update/halo 4 or that you love mlg/classic/halo 3 was a lot better/bloom is broken etc.
Better to keep the current system, since it takes a lot of time and dedication to get a rank, even just a minor one. Spam as much as you like, 6001 posts before you even get a signature takes a lot of time, even if spamming…
