Proposed fix for Breakneck's Gauss Hog.

As most of you know, they are many things that need to be balanced on this map.

But the most important of all is the Gauss hog. Only one team spawns with the Gauss, the other gets a Banshee. This is completely not fair. The Gauss can easily the destroy the Banshee in one shot.

A proposed fix is that both teams get their Gauss hogs OR:

Remove the Gauss and replace it with two normal warhogs to compensate the other team’s Banshee.

The other fix that one team spawns with the Spartan Laser close to them, and the other with the Gauss.

The Gauss easily destroys the opposing team, I’ve seen many people gathering higher sprees than any other maps such as Rampage, Untouchable, etc.

OR just drastically slower the rate of fire of the Gauss. That simple.

This issue must be fixed. What do you think about it?

One team gets the vehicular advantage when it comes to the Gauss-hog, the other team has a higher ground advantage, and rockets. Regardless of which side you spawn on if you work together as a decent team, you will always gain the upper-hand over a lesser not as well-coordinated team.

Asymmetrical maps are fine, as are the weapons and vehicles that you find on them - To use them to your advantage however needs quality teamwork, and if you’re complaining about the fact that one team gets this or that first, then you really aren’t playing the map to it’s strengths.

Put in short, I don’t think the map needs any adjustments that would otherwise mess up the already near-perfect asymmetrical layout. There is a counter for absolutely everything, you just need to learn how to play with decent teamwork.

Of course, that is my opinion, I do however have to point out that what you posted is also an opinion in itself.

The Banshee will be destroyed by the Gauss at the start of the match. There’s no higher ground advantage. Most of all people don’t know the location of the rockets (even me, such an avid gamer), even if they had them, they would be killed by the Gauss before they can even fire it.

Team communication is rare in casual players so that doesn’t quite fix it.

Well then it’s not the map’s fault for one team to communicate worse than the other - Thus far I have never played a game on Headlong that has disolved into the Gauss-Warthog trumping everything, and I play with decent teams on and off, and even when I’m not part of a decent team I have never seen the Gauss-Warthog overpower everything, which is wonderful because the Banshee would have overpowered everything if it weren’t for the 'Hog.

You don’t know the rocket spawns? shakes head Terrible, simply terrible. Go around the map and learn the callouts, and where the power weapons spawn - It’ll make life easier when you’ve got a decent understanding of the map. For starters there’s a rocket that spawns behind the large steel monument near the beach, and two rockets are along the hallway on the top left of the map from Red Team spawn.

Gauss is WAY overpowered, easy to aim and an almost instant kills to anything, not to mention its basicly a sniper for how fast it goes. It doesnt matter how good you or your team is, Gauss will wreck you.

And really? Shakes head? lol

Yes, shakes head to exemplify my disappointment.

Gauss never wrecked me. Might one time or another, but never from game to game.

Then you either never play that map, or must be a GOD at Halo.

Its basicly a moving sniper with a bigger reticle and more protection.

A player does not need to be a god at what he does to not be dominated by a single element in a map, there are numerous counters to the Gauss 'Hog, in addition teamwork really does help when it comes to dealing with a seemingly impossible situation.

The weapons and vehicles are there to balance things out asymmetrically.

Avoid either the Gauss or Banshee by staying indoors.
Grab a Plasma Pistol, a few 'nades and/or teammates, disable the vehicle, jack or destroy it, profit.
If you cannot profit, then honestly either the enemy is really good or you haven’t tried the right tactic yet.

Respect and Honour. Spartans are a team.

It’s not about me. It’s about my teammates. I rarely get killed by the Gauss because I stay indoors, but I just hate watching my team going 12 kills versus the other team’s 80 kills because of the Gauss.

I can’t even shoot the Gauss because it will kill me instantly. It’s so easy to aim and has HUGE range.

I understand not having a team sucks. But when that happens, all you can do is look out for number one and capitalise on the odd target here or there.
I don’t like getting slaughtered so I make myself the most annouying thing one can attack.
Either I get left alone or the whole team gets me.

But that’s also if I don’t rage-quit due to it being the 3rd game in a row to have a team that doesn’t understand that running into the enemy’s bullets won’t get the job done.
And that’s also a known problem of mine due to going alone most times. That’s ok because it is my preference.
