Proposal To Tweak Promethean Vison

As we all know PV allows a fellow player to use a different type sight. PV’s Main use is to see through walls but the radius in which it reaches is unreasonable large. Nearly everyone can argee in reducing the Sonar Radius. Take a look at the radar, the default range is 25 meters which is still pretty large with PV but say we were to reduce to 15 meters? Since you bascially “Become” the radar your own default radar during PV will be disabled as well.

Second thing to add is making the sonar pulse weakers once it goes off.

If the limit is 15 Meters

-The pulse is Strongest at 0 - 5 Meters (Players caught in pulse are bright)
-Weakened at around 6 - 10 Meters (Players caught are dimmed)
-Weakest around 11 - 15 ft (You can barely see any red)

So if this idea was put into place…

Pros

Allows you to see through walls and power weapons locations as well (Could be mistaken)
Duration of X seconds (I’m guessing 5 seconds not too sure)

Cons

Other players can hear you using it
Radius is only 15 meters
Pulse weakens as it goes off
Radar disabled or scrambled (Jammed)

something needs to be done to nerf PV, as it stands now it just looks OP and will just slow the game down. Why would you ever go any place where you are outnumbered if you can see it coming a mile away.

good players are just going to go ever more slowly and game will come to a standstill since there will be much less surprises. I cant imagine other AAs being nearly as good, but we will see i guess

There is no need to fix something which is not broken.

It’s basically Scan Mode from Armored Core V. I want it for Spartan Ops and Campaign, so please don’t nerf it into a uselessness AA in those playlists.

I like your proposal. Also I think the recharge time should be at least twice as long.

I feel like Promethean Vision is going to end up being the Armor Lock of Halo 4. I agree that, in its current state, it’s far too powerful. The range it has takes away any element of surprise from pretty much any encounter. I’d probably support any measure to nerf it at this stage.

It’s too bad that this type of ability seems like it can either be gamebreaking or just plain useless.

All the times I have seen Promethean vision used, it gave nobody any real advantage, they just knew were to move to, and were not good at countering attacks by more than on person, they could not judge what weapon the enemy had in their hands, so you could find that the guy you assumed was an ordinary player with a BR, turned out to be someone with a Scattershot or a Rail gun. So TBH Promethean vision doesn’t need any tweaking or removal from any playlist, it would just hinder your progress as you get better, because that space can be taken by something better and more useful to your style of play. I have no idea where everybody got the idea that Promethean vision is over powered, Or game breaking, because it’s not true. The ability is fine the way it is and does not need tweaking, ATM it has it’s use, making it weaker will make it useless and that would have been detrimental and a big waste of time, there is no way you can tweak it to make it “more” useful than it already is, so it’s fine the way it is, it’s balanced.

Concerns are welcome. Of course I posted this because of what I’ve seen with MLG gameplay videos. It’s not that I want it removed but tweak enough to were it’s still great to use but but not over the top dominant.

I rewatched and rewatched all the gameplay footage and I still fail to see why it needs tweaking. Even when fully charged it doesn’t show enemy location from far because the scanning wave takes a lot of time to travel. Radar does the same job and if you have PV you can’t use other AAs.

It’ very well balanced IMO.

Didn’t they say the down said to it was you make a noise? If so then I could barely hear it and I was wearing headphones when I watched it. I say up the volume for it and remember that CGI video at the beginning of the halo 4 demo when it was inside the ship and all of a sudden it was being scanned? Add something like that, so then not only can people hear it, they can see it as well and know when they are being scanned.

I think that 343 should add the SMG, and the Plasma rifle back into the game

I think it would be better of you could only see people from far range instead of infront of you that’s what makes it op.

I don’t have a problem with it, although I know it’s quite powerful. If a player is at 25 meters and gets pinged, they should be long gone before the PM user gets there. That said, I don’t have a problem with reducing the range a bit.

It’s absolutely an advantage at short range because it allows you to get the first shot in which among equal players is usually the difference.

Does slayer pro have PM? Why not just play in that hopper if you don’t like PM?
