Proposal for Earning Credits

In the old Halo games, a fun goal was to complete the inventory and collect all the armor pieces the games had to offer. Personally, I love the customization that Reach had, and even with Halo 5, even though you couldn’t work with the armor on a piece-by-piece basis, it was still fun trying to unlock as much of it as you could, especially with how many options 5 had to offer. Customization and lots of options are a big reason I love Halo so much.

With Infinite, it isn’t really practical to collect lots of armor; it’s just too expensive. I do appreciate how, with the release of Season 2, players now earn back enough credits to purchase the next season, but that doesn’t really give the players any chances to purchase anything beyond the next season in the store. Some of the store items are pretty cool, too.

What if there was some way to earn a bit of extra credits in the game? I know that Infinite is a free game and that 343 has to make money somehow, but what if there was some way to slowly accumulate extra credits that could be saved for a store item or two every now and then?

I’m not sure what kind of system this would be, but a question for me is: What is the current incentive to play Infinite after beating a season pass? Right now, with how far the seasons are apart, once you beat the season pass, there really isn’t any goal to work towards (unless you just love playing the game that much). What if, once you beat a season pass, you could earn additional XP and convert it into credits? I don’t know, but a rough thought could be that 1,000 XP could be converted into 1 credit (or maybe 1 credit for 100 XP…).

I’m willing to spend a little bit of cash on Infinite (and I have already), but I do think it would be great to have an additional way to earn credits in the game, and I think that this could be an added incentive for players to keep going.

This is a pretty undeveloped idea, but what do you think?

Right now there’s no incentive to play after completing the passes (INB4 “back in the 1950s when I played videogames the incentive was HAVING FUN!”). Somewhere along the line a playlist ranking system similar to the classic Halos will eventually be released, and that’s about it.

As for earning the credits through gameplay for buying stuff, you guys should simply forget about it. Considering they release maps and modes for free, they’d end up working on a complete game with actual content being released constantly and if the game turns up to be good people would probably earn credits by playing rather than spending money on the shop since it will be more satisfying to unlock armor that way.

And I don’t believe for a second it would be more profitable for them to make some credits earnable to incentivize people to buy them as well, since there’s lots of people out there who probably already spent 1000$ or more in the shop.
