Prophet leader

Since people have stated that ATN was the last DLC for HW2, im curious why we didnt get a prophet leader. HW2 has a good selection of leaders but the prophet is the only type of leader that didn’t carry over from HW1. Almost seems like a no brainer since they do hold a high title in the covenant.
Not complaining, just curious why we didn’t get one.

Did…did hold a high title in the Covenant.

Besides, the Prophets were the last remaining link between Covenant and Banished, with the two main military leadership species (Elites/Brutes) joining factions or rebuilding their homeworlds after the War with the humans and the Civil wars.

Whilst id love to see a Prophet return to the franchise, it makes sense why they didn’t, after all Arbiter is described as putting his talents to good use with the Banished and Colony to follow orders with their own agenda.

It just wouldn’t work Imo, you think a Prophet would be welcome under Atriox’s command? Considering it was the Prophets agenda that caused him to revolt lol. Likewise you think a Prophet would take orders from anyone above them?

What? Multiplayer has NOTHING to do with halos story. So it wouldn’t break to many rules to have one a leader. Seeing as we got forge, a grunt and the arbiter. And I’m aware they DID hold a high title.

He meant did as in the past tense, as in their dead, but I understand where you’re coming from.

Personally I’m not a huge fan of how many nostalgia leaders we received. I was looking forward to new leaders with interesting backgrounds to dive into, not a copy and paste with maybe a couple new mechanics. I’m pretty happy we got new leaders like Yappers, Colony, and the Super Brute Brothers instead of a Prophet.

Agreed - I’d much prefer new leaders / characters over old ones - especially dead ones. When Forge was the first dlc leader released, I was disappointed. I know it’s just multiplayer - he’s not in the campaign story - neither is Arbiter or a Prophet, but putting them in MP just seems kind of cheap to me. They are all in HW1 and are integral to that story - would’ve been nice to give the same level of consistency to HW2.

Yeah we have no Air Leader, which is pretty sad to me. I’d wish Pavium dominated the air or Voridus since his Infusion reminds me of Napalm.

Lol you take my response as some sort of personal attack on your suggestion, Chill.
Besides, my point is even though multiplayer isn’t necessarily canonical, each character has “some” sort of sense being there, having the highest of leadership from a war against the banished which ALSO had a war with itself, return to lead Banished units? Wouldn’t make sense.

Sorry if you don’t like my opinion, but that’s how it is.

Your opinion didn’t bother me. Sorry, just thought you took mine as a stupid one since it didn’t connect to the story mode.

Not at all, your suggestion wasn’t stupid i was just giving reason why it wouldn’t work and why possibly he wasn’t included in the line up. I’d love to play as Prophet again I was just stating that i agree with their decision not to bring him back.

Returning characters are even worse when they have different voice actors and the units/powers don’t fit the leader.

multiplayer doesnt have anything to do with the story your right BUT every leader has a background story (apart from forge hes still dead af) johnson was made a robot, arbiter is just his story if he sided with atriox YAPYAP WAS A GRUNT WITH A ROLE IN THE BANISHED so yes, while it has no effect on multiplayer, it would make no sense in any form for lore

omg arby and johnsons new voices bothered me to the point ill mute my game when i play them

I THINk they could have used a Prelate leader for a San Shyuum type Leader. The of from Shadow if Intent was really cool and could have unique units.

Yea Johnsons voice was a tad off. But you are aware of the reason behind it right?

Correct, really stinks.

Doesn’t change the effect of it sounding off though…

HW2 Story begins years after the end of the Halo 3 btw.

after johnson died on the ring

Agreed, sorry, I think we would’ve benefited without, but than again, I’m an idiot, you know why?
Cause Arbiter ended up being one of my favorite leaders in the game! Definitely worth, but only because they made some pretty big changes to his mechanics and made him a much more Front-Line Oriented Character that I was missing with Shipmaster.
He filled in the gap, and I love him for that.
Prophet might fill your gap, but, if their done with Halo Wars 2, I’d leave him out (For now).

One conversation I remember having a while back had to do with YapYap being a creative Callback to Halo Wars 1’s Covenant, like Jerome was a big and creative callback to Halo Wars 1’s UNSC, what with having 3 spartans as leaders, ALONGSIDE, Jerome.
Before YapYap launched, I could’ve sworn they were going to have a Grunt Goblin Buildable Vehicle, and YapYap himself flying around in the Prophet’s Chair bombarding Methane bombs, fuel rods, and all that Jazz.
He’d have the flying upgrade, and the Fuel Rod upgrade, and it would be Hilarious if he got the two Sentinel Watchers too!
I’m happy with what I got, but this would’ve been a whole new class of Comedy, also very fitting with his Silliness Factor.

I’m actually not aware why did they get a new voice actor?
