Doubtful. Microsoft was perfectly happy with software-emulating Halo 1 for six years on the 360; such a practice could easily be continued.

“We need to get Halo 3’s servers populated again so Bungie can’t take the servers down!”
Unfourtunatly people were believeing this… where Bungie was the red flag for me.
