20 minute ago there was only 12k people online. Yeah i know “people got work” “christmas hasnt hit yet” blah blah blah all these stupid excues for why people wont play this game. Youve sold 4.5 million copies of this game in 4 weeks and you cant even get 50k people on. Im sorry, i know people have stuff to do and -Yoink- but 12k online! that is absolutely pathetic and there is no excuse for it other than people just dont want to play this game. Get the hint 343! Stop ignoring your community, make some Obvious changes to the game, release a patch alredy, knock it off with codes we know you arent going to send, unlock the rest of the game for everyone that bought it, and quit limiting the gameplay because people dont want to give you -Yoink- company anymore money. Quit frankly you dont deserve my money for this. I want a game where more than 200 people are in my playlist and my gameplay is not literally cut in half because i didnt want to fork out more money than the 60$ that alredy wasnt worth it. Again, i think its time to quit hiding and finally do something 343! Oh and as a side note, there is more people on halo 3 and reach individually than halo 4 as of 30 mins ago. i checked.
Whats more pathetic?
- A game
- Someone who goes onto an internet forum for that game just to say the game is pathetic
And ya… that “people got work blah blah blah” is the key there. Halo is “mostly” a north american fanbase. Either people are at work, school, or they arent getting up at 9AM to play halo. I usually see about 150k during peak times, are you really thinking they could pull 50k during sleep/work/school time?
Totally agree
This game has been nothing but a major disappointment for me
Doesnt feel like halo

So how does COD maintain a high poulation?
Dont COD fans go to sleep or work?
150k is nothing for peak times. COD peak time in just one playlist is 170k
I am not going to argue that this game needs some patching and additions made for the game.
However, Halo 4 did sell very well at launch but what comes a week after? BO II and there are many gamers (myself included) who play both games instead of being a narrow minded loyalist. That can take away from the games population as a result but BO II does appeal more to masses and therefore wins by default due to it being a trend the younger audiences flock too. Plus it’s multi platform, it sells even more than being an exclusive!
You can’t compare the Halo 2 days to Halo 4. Halo 2 was the first to introduce what we know and love: Competitive, online Matchmaking for the masses. Something new and totally cool that hasn’t been on the consoles before. It was also the “hip” thing to own, had all the kids talking about it and getting excited going home after school to play some MM or getting pwned by Legendary Jackal Snipers on split screen Campaign.
Come Halo 3, it’s popular two coming off Halo 2’s success. Lots of people played it despite COD’s rise to power and was still a fad (also had ranks, introduced Forge and Theater). It wasn’t till much after that the Halo fatigue started kicking in (post Mythic Halo 3, ODST and Reach) and that’s when “accessibility” and “user-friendly” elements from the labeled “casual audience” started affecting game design. Halo 3 was skilled game and COD was much easier, so it’s natural who’s population will be higher in the future and where the masses will go. It’s incredibly profitable to do this now days as well and as business, these devs will do what makes the most money at the end of the day.
Halo’s time as king is over. It was a much different time then it was in the early 2000s. It is still a strong series but time changes and so do the things people like. Competitively, i feel Halo can beat COD but otherwise? COD and the generic military shooters are what’s hot now. I thought this was made clear in the Reach population?
I’m happy the population has gone down like this. It’s what 343 deserves for their betrayal.

And this kiddies is the truth
Well yeah considering thres been 50k every other morning. And pathetic? because i finally have a day off between work and school and im pissed i have nothing to do. Usually i play halo, but it is WAY to boring now. And again yes theres normally 50k on right now. And reguardless, 12k is just overkill bad. No excuse for it. But then again i already said that in the post. And you want to know the best part? You try to bash me for posting this but you took the time to comment on it saying how pathetic it is… that makes you even more pathetic -Yoink-. Do me a favor and stay off my post.
Als0, saw this post which had an interesting convo going having to do witht this.
https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst152286_Halo-4-s-Average-Population.aspx
Heres a little chart to show what i meen
http://www.halocharts.com/2012/chart/dailypeakpopulation/all
I post this on here because this is the only way i know to get my point to 343 (hopefully). What am i supposed to do? Call their front desk and -Yoink-?
Point being, this game had and still has potential to be the best off all time. Whats holding it back is a very ignorant company. Furthermore i find it EXTREMLY rude that they ignoring their series’ fanbase. I meen look at the forums. You have literally got to be trying to ignore us. Its filled with fans raising concern. There more posts about making fixes and patches than there are anything else combined.

And what is that 170k playlist at 9AM on a thursday morning? I never claimed Halo 4 was anywhere close to CoD peak, just that you cant evaluate a primarily north american game’s population when north america is between 6AM-9AM.
And on top of that, the thing that makes me laugh about all these “OMG Halo is Doomed! Look at the population” posts, is the fact that the new specializations are coming out, or have just came out for most people, and it just so happens Spartan Ops is the fastest XP you can get. So all those people who are grinding out levels (not because they like spartan ops better, simply because they want to level as fast as possible) are not counted in the “population.” Coming from an MMO background, I know that there is a large percentage of people who just want to ascend to the highest rank possible then there are people who are just playing for fun.
Im not denying that when CoD came out, populations dropped significantly, just that there is more going on than a stupid graph, and a claim that a game is pathetic because there arent 50000 people waking up at 6-9AM and playing halo online.
quoting sales numbers is totally irrelevant seeing as people who bought this game bought it on hype, not the games merits. bungie and the original halos are what sold this game, not the game itself. the peak pop is going down every day, its normal for it to drop after release no one says otherwise, but it hasn’t stopped dropping daily. this game could be good(more maps, better playlists, ranks aka incentive) but it’s BORING right now 3-5 games in and you lose all motivation to keep playing
Oh and i just found my halo 1 disc yesterday. bought that like 2 days after it came out. Copyright date on it is 2011. Meens ive been playing this game for 11 years. To show that support and then get slapped in the face with a game like this angers me quite alot. Companys like this are the reason for most of the problems in america today. Instead of taking the slightest cut in profits and taking the time to make a decent game with what EVERYONE obviously wants, wed rather release a game that plays like a beta and trys to sucker every last penny pout of you it can. Pretty much instead of doing the correct thing, wed rather just screw everyone over so we can get our money. right 343?

You see the highlighted quote? CoD is WORLDWIDE, Halo is mainly North American. Learn to read, moron.
Halo 4 is neither as bad as some say nor as good as some of the review scores that it received. After having server issues for three days (finally fixed for me thank goodness) I have come to appreciate the game more.
cf i agree. the reason i quoted sales was to point out that there are 4.5 million potential players. not including people who share the game etc. No game has ever lost population this fast or even gotten it this low. Like i said there more people on 3 and reach individually as of a little while ago. I literally can not think of one excuse for that seeing as its the same time in the morning on those games and the got people on. furthermore theyre the predecessors to this game. embarrasing i think.

Why is that most Americans on these forums fail to realize they’re not the only country in the world that plays this game. Such ignorance, unbelievable.
12.000 people online at this time (EUROPE time) is atrocious. Reach never had these low numbers when I played during the day, and Reach was terrible (granted H4 is even worse). When I play FIFA at this time, there are at least 60.000 people online.
Halo and Cod are both marketed worldwide. CoD just simpily beat out halo which is why they have the more worldwide population. That said Halo had just the same opportunitys as cod as far as marketing and selling worldwide. Plus hop on cod. there are more north american players than there are players total on halo. This kind of just proves my point more.
its 6am. you also do realize that theres multiple servers right? thats just how many are online on YOURE server. the server im on has 60k online right now.
Lol, playing last night (in the UK) there was about 280,000 people playing wargames at about 10pm

THANK YOU! thats exactly what im saying. Reguardless of game, theyre both still the same time and still just as happily sold to any customer worldwide as each other. CoD just maintained its audience. Again 12k esoecially only 4 weeks in in unheard of bad.
as for youre argument with cod. cod will always outdo halo. its the most casual game there is. literally anyone can hop on cod and do well. my friends 4 year old son plays cod and averages 15 kills a game.
