Chiefs data chip for cortana was destroyed in halo 4. yet in the halo 5 teaser we see him with on. Granted, he could have easily attained another back on earth, but, what if he didn’t?
Halo origins part 2, we see a gravemind hand chief a data chip and then transport him to the ark, where he’s then met by a monitor.
Most will assume this is 343GS but I’m betting its 859 Static carillion.
- In escalation he takes the ring for repair after chief ejects part of the ring into the composers.
- Rings are repaired and built on the ark.
- 2013 halo E3 chief HAS the chip given to him already and is then wondering the ark.
NOTE: 343 have said them selves (frankie) that halo origins does indeed show of ideas that they may or may not incorporate into future media.!
And so we question why would a gravemind do all this for chief?
My thoughts:
He has seen what Chief alone is capable of and see this as an opportunity now after everything thats happened between modern humanity and the flood that this is prime time for humanities testing. The gravemind knows that Mendicant knows a lot of the flood and is tasking chief to find out all he needs in order to take on the oncoming storm.
Chief then takes it upon him self once he understands what the mantle is all about and that sense of duty and pride he has always had that duty to protect the void of protecting cortana is filled with protecting the galaxy and so unites as many races as possible even for an instant (friends and foe, possibly forerunners to) to battle a massive galactic war with the flood.
This is a rough theory about the reclaimer saga and is most likely wrong in a lot of places, BUT it wouldn’t surprise me if chiefs journey does have something to do with the concept of the mantle!
