Many of you know the their has been a serious discussion as to whether Cortana was alive after the events of halo 4. The side that supports her death say that she is dead because her date crystal(chip) was destroyed by the Didact in the last mission of halo 4. The side that claims she is alive say that because they found an audio recording that explains how Cortana is unique amoung all A.I. in that the rules of becoming rampant dont apply to her. However even if she survives the rampantecy, how could she survive after having her crystal destroyed which is like the heart to A.I.'s. Well normally A.I. cant, but what does that mean for Cortana? If you go back to the mission reclaimer on halo 4, their comes a point were the Chief plugs Cortanas chip into the platform. Afterwards Cortana gets kidnapped by the an unknown entity from which the Chief later gets Cortana back. However it never occured to any to actually study these events because if they had then they would have noticed that when Cortana was taken the Chief did not retrieve Cortanas chip. Why? The answer is because there was no chip to retrieve since it was taken as well. Now you may be saying what this has to do with Cortana still being alive right? Well then if you havent figured it out by now then ill tell you. If Cortanas chip could to transfered or teleported with in forerunner tech, then what could have stopped Cortana or someone else from doing that before the Didact destroyed her chip. And we are talking about an advence race, so dont bother with the " it would have taken time to move that much data" because we saw it done fast when Cortana was kidnapped. Tell me what you think this all means aside from the fact that Cortana is still alive.

I’m guessing it’s possible that Cortana saved herself by using forerunner tech to impliment one of Halsey’s theories involving slip space…
Ok, the way I see it is that she defragged herself of her rampant parts to help fight Didact, then what was left of her said farewell to 117.

The proof being the multiple occasions 343 confirmed her as dead. And again when she “turns up” in Halo 5 that we’re not seeing cortana but merely here ghost.

For the Chief Cortana serves as a strong emotional link to his humanity. Killing her would surely cause him to explore his humanity that his denied for so long. Now as to why their lying about her death being true is because they still have halo 5 and 6 to tell the story of the chief. If they went and said “yeah cortanas not dead” then they would practically be telling most of the halo reclaimer story before the games came out. And to be clear if cortana was to be killed off completely, do you believe that a true humane master chief story could exist because at the end of the day cortana is what allows the chief to be humane.
Many games have had characters die to later come back in a big twist
343 has stated several times over, in several different places/sources that Cortana is dead.
I’m not sure why everyone tries to keep finding a way around that?

Chief spent the majority of his life (and I cant stress this next part enough, are ya ready?) WITHOUT Cortana. He has more to him with blue team than he ever did with Cortana, sure it was sad and emotional but, everything you just stated above is a load of rubish.

No, the fact that John is human is what allows him to be human. A large part of the Reclaimer saga is him getting in touch with his humanity. If he needs Cortana to confirm his humanity for him, this entire story arc is pointless.

Uh…no in a conversation with me he admitted it IS possible due to the events on the Mantle’s approach and requiem.

But its possible and remember were not taking about a living organic being but a being made of date. Can date truly be destroyed. And as to the whole 343 saying cortana is dead could be a marketing strategy to later surprise us with cortana being back because after all wouldnt it be something if after saying she’s dead if she was alive
