Prone - Yay or Nay?

Just wanted to get the communities opinion on prone.

Personally, I think it would be a good addition to have, like sprint. Sprint didn’t really impact the core Halo gameplay we know and love negatively like some other armor abilities (the frustrating armor lock imo).

Prone wouldn’t work well in Halo due to the fact that the kill times are relatively long compared to other games like CoD or Battlefield. Going prone would do nothing but put you at a disadvantage. By the time you start shooting at somebody, they can easily outmaneuver around/behind you and kill you by the time you turn around to get them.

Meant to hit no way! Accidentally hit yes…

FUUUUUUUUUUU

Who’s going to be proning in mm? I’m sorry, but if anyone ever proned in mm, I’d call them an idiot.

Everyone moves in halo, even snipers move more than you think.

And people were already complaining the game was like Cod with the new perks etc. and now you want prone?

Halo is more of an arena / arcade-style shooter, something in-between Quake and hardcore realistic military shooters.

The key to hardcore military shooters = controlling recoil with body position and movement. The key to Halo = shooting accurately while on the move. Prone doesn’t work at all with Halo.

I would rather not have all the drop-shooters in Halo as well, personally.

I’ve asked the same question and some people replied with “Spartans stand up and fight, not lie down on their belly.” That’s just stupid. I think leaving prone out makes the gameplay more rigid and “arcade” style, and if it had prone then that opens up more options for battle, but maps would have to be specially made to accommodate it. I suppose it would allow players to be more “cheap” by only having a small portion of their body able to be shot at from a certain angle, but it’s time for players to adapt to new additions to gameplay.

Might be a good addition for Machinima. But for general game-play it wouldn’t see much use. So im going to have to go with “No” on this one.

No thanks.

They don’t have to make it like prone from CoD. They can create some unique animation for it that might create a new way to juke that is equally good as strafing/jumping. If they make a prone animation that does that, that’ll definitely add a new layer to Halo multiplayer and have a positive effect because now you have a whole new way to dodge fire.

And if they do make it like CoD, the hardcore players won’t use it, but it’s still a decent feature to have regardless since it doesn’t take away from Halo multiplayer/doesn’t impact negatively.

No, and you are wrong about sprint.

Campaign only, MP it would be annoying, people would use it when being shot at, which is annoying.

Halo’s style of play wouldnt make sense if prone was added. Just picture it…yeah see my point.

Hell No

So many things are wrong with what you just said

Hell to da nizzo

I promise if there is EVER prone in a halo game, I will sell my xbox.

Although I want sprint to return, and want a new Halo experience in Halo 4, prone is a definite no no. Same goes with kill streaks, a linear rail shooter campaign and iron sights.

I don’t see it being very useful in Halo. In all my playthroughs I never found myself thinking how much better it would’ve been if I could have done this or that part of the mission in prone.

I voted I don’t care instead of no way because I can see it being kinda useful if I find myself at like a cliff overlooking a group of enemies. Then yeah, prone would be useful to allow me to fire on them without too much of me being exposed to their returning fire. But in Halo, getting clipped by some rounds doesn’t really do much damage to your character, your shields will lower and you just back off and wait for them to recharge. Rinse and repeat. So prone just wouldn’t be that useful for Halo, but it wouldn’t kill the series for me if it was ever introduced.

It’d be a bit of a waste though since it’d mostly go underused imo.
